The darkness swept across the land,
And touched her pale cheek,
Watching as the life escaped,
From her body to its heath.
Death so swiftly took the girl,
And the child at her side,
That at the moment she was gone,
It smiled with an evil pride.
Looking over the broken realm,
It so lustfully consumed,
The darkness simply raised its head,
Searching for more to doom.
Eyes landing upon a place,
That light somehow remained,
Its loathsome glare hunted down the heart,
That dared to beat again.
It listened to her intake of breath,
Its ears pierced at the sound,
It watched as her sword was raised,
And attacked in a lethal bound.
Its fangs against her pale skin,
Its fingers grasped her sword,
The rage that it could not contain,
Pushed her all the more.
At last one stood with triumph,
The other in defeat,
The darkness held, in its ashen hand,
Her heart that dared to beat.
