It is winter right now in London and to add to the lovely coldness in the air, is the rain that is pouring down like someone decided to open up the flood gates in heaven. Though it's a very calming site. As I watch the rain beat down on the streets before me, I reminisce on all that I have done this year and how hard I have worked to get to a place of complete bless and happiness.
It is over cast at the moment but the dim lit embodiment of the café seems to surround me with a since of warmth and comfort - that could possibly be the reason why this is my favourite place to come and escape all my worries and problems. The walls are a painted with a cream colour, accompanied with quotes of encouragement. There is a soft buzz of chatter around me. As I stare out of the huge bow windows on the right side of the café, the smell of freshly baked muffins and brewed coffee over take my sense of smell and the need for a hot cup of tea grows greater. So eventually after much debate whether to break my comfort, I decide to walk up to the front of the café and order myself a cup of tea.
As I am walking to the front counter my attention is caught by a waiter that I have not yet met, and since I come here often, I cannot help but wonder who this new waiter is. That thought lasts for a second more before I walk straight into the counter to make my order.
"Ah... H-Hi. Don't tell me you just say that?"
"Me? See you? You mean, me , seeing you , totally drooling over the new waiter at table 5?."
" Kate! I was NOT "drooling" over him, I was simply observing extremely hard."
This is Kate everybody. One of the wildest wild cats I know. We became friends after my fourth visit to Street Corner Cafe'. Now I get to have discounted tea anytime I'd like and she gets to have someone to keep her busy well she works. Its a win, win , situation.
"Oh you were so drooling over Tyler!" smirks Kate.
" Well... puff, what if I was detective. I don't see there being a law on the window saying that I can not admire beauty when I see it! Never mind the fact that it is working in the Café with a very tight looking golf shirt!"
"Riley, 'Its' name is Tyler, and, it so happened that he was checking you out as well FOOL!"
"Don't call me a foo-, WAIT WHAT! REALLY? Wait how does my hair look? Am I dressed okay? Oh shit do I have something in my teeth? Do I smell okay? Do you thmmhmm-", okay so maybe I freak out a lot and get super nervous around guys. And maybe Kate did not just stuff a biscuit in my mouth.
"Before you freak out even more, why don't I make you another cup of tea and you can go back to your comfortable seat and the window and do that weird brooding thing?"
"I don't BROOD, once again I ADMIRE! - AnnD, yes please. Thank you."
As I turn on my heels to walk back to my seat, I decide to grab a book off of the shelf that is right across from the café counter where I had just ordered. That is another reason why I love this café, they have a whole wall staked with books that customers can choose from.
They range from fiction to non fiction, romance, science fiction ( my favourite) and poetry. Its like they are literally asking you to get lost in a world other than your normal mundane one and the best part is that you don't even have to pay for the book and you can read from dusk till dawn.
As I'm walking towards the book shelf I accidently make dead eye contact with the new waiter (Tyler) and it feels as though the wind has been struck out of me. The weirdest part of this all is that he is actually staring back at me. I try very hard to not squirm away. The intensity in his eyes send heat throw out my body and when I mean through out. I mean THROUGH OUT my BODY!
Before I knew it, I walked face first into the book shelf. The collision was so hard that a book from the top shelf came loose and hit me straight in the eye as I looked up.
" OW! you motherfu-"
"Are you okay?" the hot waiter boy asked me, as he picked up the book that just attacked me.
OH MY GOSH! He and everyone in the café just saw that. I want to crawl into a hole about... right now.
"Um... Yeah, no, I'm fine. Stupid book shelf came out of nowhere. Thank you."
" Oh so, it couldn't have been because you were totally checking Mr Feathertin out then? Because you must know that his wife, may not be able to run fast anymore, but she sure knows how to through her bag hard enough at a person that it hurts."
Did he just smirk at me? And in the same breath jokingly flirt with me?
" Huh nooo?"
" Well then in that case I'm glad" and then he leaned his body over mine and put the book right back from where it came. And you want to know what this fool went and did? I tilted my head to the lift of me and look up at him with my mouth ajar. And go ahead, ask me, then what happened?
This Greek God of a man looked down at me while putting the book away and SMILED. If I could have melted to the floor like that one ghost in ghost busters I would have.
