Isadora woke up in with Chancellor, her boyfriend of three years.
Isadora supposed she would marry him one day, have his children, and live happily ever after. The thought of it made her roll her eyes.
"Good morning, Isadora," Chancellor said stiffly.
"Good morning," she replied.
He was already dressed for the day, attaching his weapon belt to his trousers.
No Guardian with any sense went anywhere without a way to defend themselves, nowadays.
Isadora grabbed some of her clothes and went to take a shower. The training room would be empty, except for Zandra and she looked forward to get her blood pumping. Adrenaline was a far better stimulant than caffeine.
She towel dried her hair and stuck it awkwardly in a ponytail.
When she got out of the bathroom, Chancellor was gone, but Isadora wasn't bothered.
He didn't have to tell her where he was going because she already knew.
It would be some type of commitee meeting to get him ready for when he became the head of this outpost. It was always the same routine with him.
Walking down the corridor, she bumped into Julian. He was beat up, to say the least. Isadora could see the bruises on his cheeks and his swollen lips, but a slight limp was the only sign of the injuries he hid beneath his clothing.
Her eyes widened in shock and she watched Julian's lips pull into a frown.
"What the hell? Did the princess beat you up?"
"No,"Julian mumbled,"Bar fight."
He didn't want to talk to her, Isadora noted.
Isadora pursed her lips,"What is it with you boys and your alcohol?"
"Didn't drink, actually. But you should have seen the other guy," Julian said with a slight smile on his lips.
He winked at her as he turned down the corridor.
Isadora rolled her eyes. Julian was impossible.
Once in the training room, she saw Zandra, headphones in, beating the hell out of a punching bag.
Isadora ignored her and hit the bench. She was in a lifting mood.
Sweat poured off of her but she felt strong.
Powerful.
She had been lifting for a half an hour when Chancellor interrupted her.
"Sorry to interrupt," He muttered, looking down,"The princess called a meeting."
Isadora nodded and finished her rep, while Chancellor waited patiently.
She wiped her face with a towel that was slung over one of the chairs nearby and took his hand, allowing him to guide her down the corridor to Adri's private quarters.
When she arrived, Adri was whispering to Julian. She looked incredulous but Julian's face was closed.
As soon as they noticed their company, Julian jumped back.
Adri's eyes were angry, her face said "We'll finish this later"
"Sorry to interrupt, Your Highness," Isadora murmured, somewhat embarrassed.
Audric walked in behind,"Your Highness? Do you think maybe royalty is referred to as high because only the wealthy can afford that indulgence?"
Isadora snorted loudly.
