Time skip: 2 years

Jake sighed and lay out on the sand, staring up at the clouds while he bathed in the warm sun. Jeica shook her head at him and pushed the door of the village’s bar open. She glanced over at where an Xenomorph was shuddering slightly as it tried its first beer. The young girl sitting across from it giggled and placed her hand over his. Jeica smiled. Ever since the Xenomorphs arrived, the place had livened up a lot. Heaps of people had willingly been taken as hosts and spent their days with their life-long friends. Jeica leaned against the bar and raised an eyebrow at the barman.

“Well, if it isn’t Jeica. What brings you here,” Garry greeted her, wiping a glass with a cloth. Jeica flashed him a grin.

“Your brother’s being a goofball again.”

“Oh? So it wasn’t just to say hello?” Garry laughed.

“That too. But seriously, he’s gonna drown if he stays there much longer.”

“Well, what are you coming to me for? Get Advena.”

“I came to say hello, remember?” Jeica grinned. “Can I get a drink?”

“On the house,” Garry confirmed. He slid her a glass of beer, then quickly moved off to serve someone else.

Jacob! You’re being ridiculous!” Jeica finished her drink then leaned against the wall of the tavern outside, watching Advena trying to pick up a squirming Jake.

“But Mozart’s gonna try and play the violin again! He always does!” Jake protested. Indeed, ever since Mozart had learned the origin of his name he had struggled to learn how to play the instrument with his clumsy hands. To be frank, it sounded terrible, but he never gave up. In fact, he invited his friends to help him out and comment on his progress.

You can’t keep sneaking in in the middle of the night, you’re gonna have to face the music...

“Oh the puns! You’re not making things better!” Advena grinned and slung him over her shoulder.

Gotcha! Now come on, he’ll have improved from last time.” She didn’t sound too certain.

“He’ll still sound like a dying cat,” Jake mumbled in disagreement. Jeica followed them to the boat.

Now hold on while I call Jeica...

“Already here,” she said, hopping into the boat ahead of them.

“I swear Jeica, if your mate doesn’t sound like his namesake himself, I will personally rip that accursed instrument from his claws!” Jake pouted.

He says that like he’s tough, but we all know who’s on top when it counts,” Advena smirked, and Jeica could just imagine her winking as she did so. Jake blushed and quickly hopped into the cabin, starting up the motor. Jeica leaned over the railing and stared into the deep blue ocean. Things didn’t turn out so bad after all, Jeica concluded contently. Not bad at all.

A/N: Just to let you know the sequel is now out! I don't know if it's going to be as good as this one is, but I guess we'll find out. "King of the Hive" is now available for everyone to read (That's the sequel, dunno if I made that obvious enough :P)
