I put Ivy on the ground next to Layla, "you stay here precious daddy will be back soon." I tell Ivy, kissing her head and walking downstairs facing Jake and his mates
"I told you not to come back here Jake," I tell him
"I have the right to see my girl Levi, now why don't you just run along and play happy family with that bitch of yours upstairs." Jake says with a smirk on his face.
I stepped down the last couple of stairs until I was face to face with him, "I will beat your ass again, I don't care my sister is just over there." I tell him venom dripping from my voice.
"I'm not going anywhere, so run along back to your- "Jake says but before he finishes, I cut him off with a punch in his jaw
"Don't ever call her that again or I will kill you," I say shoving him to the ground, looking at the other boys. "That goes for any of you boys, if I ever find out that you call any girl a bitch I will personal kill you." And with that I spin on my heal and walk back upstairs to where my family is sitting in the hallway, Ivy spots me first and comes running at me.
"Daddy, did you get him?" she questions jumping into my arms.
I nod my head, "did you hear anything that they said." I ask Ivy walking to Layla holding a sleeping Delilah.
Ivy nods her head, "it scared me daddy, mama said that the cracking noise was someone getting hit. Was it you?"
"No precious, it was Jake, I hit him." I tell her, helping Layla off the ground. "Ready to go?" I ask Layla, she nods and takes my hand before we start walking downstairs. Jake was still on the ground his mates surrounding him, when they heard us, they turned their heads before quickly helping Jake of the ground and running back to the lounge.
"What did you do to them?" Layla asks turning to me, I shrug my shoulders,
"Nothing that I haven't told them before." I say and continue walking down the stairs, Ivy beside me.
"Whatever it was, they got the message this time." Layla says falling into step beside me, as we reach the bottom of the stairs walking to the front door.
"Shoes Ivy." I tell my eldest daughter, putting on my own. She puts on her favorite galaxy patterned joggers that went well with the purple romper with little stars, she decided to wear. Delilah was dressed in a pink sleeper with little hearts, Layla was wearing another one of my shirts this time it was black, and I was one of my skate shirts that has rips all over the back and sides.
Once everyone had their shoes on, we left the house and made our way to the shelter. "Daddy where are we going?" Ivy asks me scraping her feet on the ground.
"We are going to a special place so we can get our own house." I tell her "and please stop scrapping your feet it is going to ruin your shoes." I add on
"Okay daddy," she says picking her feet up, we all walk in silence for a while before I feel a tug on my hand that Ivy was holding, I look down at her. "Daddy am I aloud to sing?"
"Of course, precious." I tell her, she smiles and starts skipping ahead of Layla and I. She starts singing and Delilah wants to get down to walk with her big sister.
"Ivy," Layla calls out to her and she turns "can Delilah walk with you?" Ivy nods.
Layla puts Delilah down and she runs to Ivy almost falling but Ivy grabs her before she can hit the ground. Ivy reaches down and grabs Delilah's tiny hand before continuing singing this time a different song then before, it took me a moment to realize she was singing 'hey there Delilah'. I look at Layla and she just shrugs her shoulders before joining in with Ivy, I just laugh at my little family. Here we are walking around at six-thirty in the morning singing 'hey there Delilah' on our way to a shelter that helps parents get off the streets and into affordable housing.
"we are so weird." I tell Layla smiling before joining in with the singing, we keep singing all the way to the shelter. When we get there the girls come running back to us, Layla picks Delilah up and I take Ivy's hand and we walk up to the front desk, where we have a quick chat before the lady working gives us some forms to fill out.
Layla and I walk over to some chairs while Ivy takes Delilah to play with some toys, the forms were basic enough like 'how many will be living in the household' 'any pets' the basic stuff. When we finished and handed the forms back they asked about our belongings, 'if the kids had any clothes/toys' 'if we had any food' stuff like that, then they lead us into the back room so the kids could pick some toys and we could get more clothes while they tried to find us a house.
