The aromantic spectrum is a range of identites that all fall under the umbrella term of aromantic. Some people are aromantic, meaning they never feel romantic attractuon, while some might be gray-aromantic or demiromantic or lithromantic or frayromantic or... The list goes on. There is not only one aromantic identity and not only one universal experience that applies to all aromantics.

If you don't experience romantic attraction frequently and regularly, or only experience it after forming an emotional bond with someone or you sometimes feel it and sometimes don't, or you only start to like someone romantically after they express interest in you, the aromantic label and other, more specific labels, are for you to use if you want to.

The aromantic spectrum is huge, and it expands all the time as people find new words to express themselves and their identities. Though some people may argue that all these words and specific identites are unnecessary, their opinion doesn't matter. If you find that you fit into a label, however broad or specific it may be, that label is yours to use.

If you find you belong in the spectrum, congratgulations! Sometimes being aromantic isn't easy, what with the general obsession with love and romance, but it is necessary to remember that not all love is romantic, and love is not necessary to live a fulfilling life.

If you're questioning your identity and feel that one of the aro-spec labels fits you, use it, and if you later find a label that fits better, you're free to change it! Our identities are sometimes changeable, and there is only so much we can capture with our words.

Whatever happens, remember to love yourself and decide on whichever label makes you happiest and most comfortable.
