We made it to the city. We made camp out in an abandoned building. If we looked out the window, we would see soldiers marching up and down the streets on the lookout for survivors to kill. "Aria." Exo whispered. "When will things get back to normal? I'm scared."
"It won't Exo. It won't."
I had to get some supplies to survive out here, so I left Exo alone in the abandoned building to keep him safe. I couldn't have him come with me and get himself killed.
I left through the back door and heard footsteps. I hid behind a trash can till the footsteps were gone. These are the moments where I think of my parents and how they sacrificed themselves to save us.
I snuck around soldiers and made it to an abandoned convenience store. The second I walked through the doors, the smell of decay overpowered me. I looked to my left behind the cash register and saw a pile of water bottles. I carefully walked over there and saw a dead body next to the water bottles and almost cried from the horror and smell. I went to the other side of the store and found some water and canned goods. I took some cotton balls I found and filled a box with it. I carefully placed it in the box and went outside. I miraculously was able to get back to the building safely.
I got back to Exo sleeping on the floor, loudly snoring. I placed the box in the corner of the room and crawled next to him. I fell asleep.
