Chapter One

4:30am
I got woken up by my loud ass alarm and groaned the loudest groan ever. Its Monday again and that means another another day at Shadow Wood Highschool. I eventually ended up getting up at 5 and I gotta be at school by 7 because classes start at 7:10. Once I got dressed and did my hair, I grabbed my backpack and walked down stairs. When I got down there my dad was down there making coffee.

"Hi daddy" I said giving him a big grin."Morning" he said as he kissed my forehead."Where's mom?" I asked sitting at our island."She headed out early this morning because she had to catch a flight for this heart surgery that she has to do in Texas." He said while picking up his briefcase. I sighed and said " She's literally always gone and Kain?".

"Im right here fool" Said Kain coming down the stairs. I rolled my eyes and said "I shouldn't have asked cause then maybe you wouldn't have appeared". "You two cut it out and Kain where in heavens is your backpack, its time for school chop chop.. lets go" said my dad as he picked up his keys. I looked down at my watch and it was 6:30. "Bye daddy, I have to go pick up Amara." I said as I grabbed my keys to my Mercedes G Wagon out of the drawer and headed towards the door. "Be safe... we JUST gave you your keys back so be more responsible this time.. KAIN COME ON !!!!".

Once I got in my car I fixed my mirrors, put on my seatbelt, and turned on my bluetooth. Jhené Aiko's new album was playing because it sets me in a positive mood for the day. I then backed out of my driveway and was on my way to get Amara. Once I got outside I honked the horn three times and seconds later she appeared outside.

Once she got in she looked at me and said "You look the fuck good Ken". "You look eh" I said shrugging before laughing. "Girl you and I BOTH know i look good." She said while putting on her seatbelt. "And do" I said as I pulled out of her driveway. It took us about 15 minutes to get there.

I pulled into my reserved parking spot and as soon ad I did I noticed Keem and Kar getting out of Kar's car. Amara and I started to walk like we didn't see them and Hakeem yelled across the parking lot " KENSLEY AND AMARA!!! You know yo ugly ass seen us, dont be acting brand new. Nigga you know who we are..". We stopped in our footsteps and turned around looking at them. The finally caught up and Karter said "Nigga you seen us". We continued to walk and Amara said "Yes we did and we kept walking for a reason bozo". Hakeem popped her on the arm and said "I bet you won't do it again tho". Amara and Hakeem started having a full on fist fight. This is a everyday thing with them so I just shook my head and chuckled.

Once we entered the building we either received mugs or Keem and Kar received lustful smiles. These people at this school so damn aggy. Hakeem said " Alright ima fuck with yall later" and disappeared into the crowd with some girl. Amara and Karter went to their first period class so I was stuck by myself.

My first class and second class went by pretty smoothly. Third period was the class I hated the most: Science. I went in and sat down and sat at a lab table. All of a sudden, this boy sat next to me. When I tell you he was WEIRD, he was weird. I moved spots and just ended up sitting alone. Out of no where I heard a voice of a girl asking to sit next to me. I didn't even look at her I just said "Yeah cool whatever". People were staring at me the whole class period and im just like tf. Our teacher started talking about some DNA project that we were gonna be working on with our partners. Great. Once third period was over I headed to lunch and found my friends sitting down. I sat down next to Amara and she instantly started ranting over some boy on the football team.

Hakeem was looking at me weird and I said "Hakeem the fuck you looking at me like that for?". He said " Nigga you changed yo clothes again?!!!". I looked at him like he said some dumb shit, which he did. "You been smoking that gas last period again?!" I said while shaking my head. "I mean yeah but Ken you had on a whole different outfit earlier and your hair was black ."He said looking serious. Karter looked at him and said "Yo nigga stop smoking at school". Amara sarcastically said "Let me guess she flew a helicopter to school this morning to huh?!". Amara, Karter, and I busted out laughing. Hakeem looked at us with a straight face and got on his phone.

After we laughed and did our usual, lunch was over and it was time for fourth period. We all had that class together which I think was a big mistake. We never got shit done and once it was crunch time they always copied off of me. Hakeem was flirting with yet ANOTHER girl and her dumb ass was falling for it. Karter, Amara, and I were just looking because we know how Hakeem is. Keem don't be ready to settle down with nobody.

Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh period went by fast as hell which I was so happy about. My last period was gym so when I tell you I was tired, I WAS TIRED!! I sluggishly walked to my car when the bell rung. Amara rode with Keem and Kar because her and Kar have a project to work on for first period. When I pulled up at the house, I went straight into my room and plopped on my bed.

What feels like minutes later I opened my eyes. I fell asleep and didn't even know it. I checked my phone and see messages and missed phone calls. I was sitting on my bed and my mom walked in.

"Hi baby" Said my mom as she sat next to me. "Hey" I said dryly. "I missed you this morning" She said while starting to play with my hair. " Missed you too " I said laying back down. "Well there is some food downstairs for you on the island". "Thanks but im not hungry just tired, just about to take a shower and then go back to sleep". "Okay well I love you" She said as she leaned down and kissed my forehead. "I love you too" I said as I watched her leave out of my room. My mom and I have this weird relationship. She's always working so its really just my dad, Kain, and I.

I got up and decided to take a shower to rinse off all my problems off the day. Once I got done showering I then brushed my teeth and then got into bed. Before I go to sleep I text the groupchat every night.

Keem: Watch that bitch word and night and i hope them bed bugs tear yo ass up cuh
Me: Keem kma, aint nobody got no damn bed bugs.
Amara: Night babe 💘
Kar: Night Ken 💀💀
Me: I love you guys
Keem: Nigga ew
Kar: We love you too and Hakeem shut yo ass up nigga damn.
Amara: Much love!!

I clicked my phone off and turned off. Before I knew it, I was knocked out like a baby.
