As Kol and Elena were headed back down the aisle she caught sight of Damon thankful he hadn't caused a scene during the ceremony. Both Salvatore brothers smiled as the couple walked past, and Elena released the breath she didn't realize she had been holding when she smiled back.
Damon knew Elena would be beautiful today, and her smile lit up the room because of the one man who was now her husband. He never thought in all his years that the most dangerous of the Mikaelson's would be married to the woman he loved. But today his eyes were truly opened by the way Kol and Elena looked at each other and the way Kol kissed her. Yes, Kol would protect Elena of that he was sure.
Stefan was happy for Elena and her face said it all in the way she looked at Kol. Happiness seemed to radiate off them affecting everyone in the room. She smiled as she walked past with her new husband and he returned the smile knowing Kol would take care of her in a way neither himself nor Damon ever did.
Kol never thought he could be this happy, this woman next to him was his wife, no more was she Elena Gilbert. Elena Mikaelson, he thought had a nice ring to it. Watching her walk down the aisle to him was a sight to behold, that he almost forgot to breathe. He was nervous during the ceremony afraid it was all a dream and he was going to wake up.
"Penny for your thoughts," she said noticing her husband lost in thought.
"I was thinking what a lucky man I am, almost like this is all a dream that I don't want to wake up from," he said giving her hand a gentle squeeze.
"Then we are having the same dream," she said as they walked over to their table.
"I think you missed your calling Rebekah, this room looks absolutely amazing," Freya said looking around.
"I would love to take all the credit, but I had help decorating and coming up with ideas," Rebekah replied as they were taking their seats for the reception.
"Could I have everyone's attention, please. Thank you. It is a great honor to stand here today on a very special day, our youngest brother marrying the love of his life. Granted it wasn't love at first sight for either of them, yet they managed to fall in love. I am happy for you both, Elena you look breathtaking today, my brother is a very lucky man and we are lucky to have you as our sister. Kol, I am proud of you for all you have overcome in your life, you now have a wonderful woman as your wife, and you have added another Mikaelson for us to cherish. I wish you both happiness as do we all. So, if everyone will raise their glass to Kol and Elena Mikaelson," Elijah said while raising his own glass along with everyone else.
"To Kol and Elena," everyone said at once.
"Now it is time to eat before our beautiful sister and brother cut the cake," announced Klaus.
"I can't wait to dig into that cake, it's all I thought about while sitting here," Jeremy said eyeballing the cake.
"Soon young Gilbert, I think others share your sentiment concerning the cake," Klaus said with a smile.
"This room really came together once all the flowers got added," Bonnie said looking around as was Caroline.
"It did, Rebekah did an amazing job as did we," she said as Klaus sat next to her.
"You all did a splendid job for Elena," Klaus chimed in, grinning when he noticed Caroline fidgeting with her fork. He was amused that she was flustered in his presence.
After everyone was done eating and plates cleared, it was now time for the cutting of the cake before Elena threw her bouquet.
As Kol and Elena cut the cake and each had a piece in their hand, she acted like she was going to feed it to him and at the last second smeared it all over his face. She laughed until she saw him smirk and instead of smearing cake on her face, he took a bite of the cake then he kissed her to make sure she got frosting on her face, making everyone laugh.
Once everyone had a piece of cake it was time for Elena to throw her bouquet before everyone mingled and danced.
"All you single ladies ready?" Elena asked as she was getting ready to toss the bouquet.
"Yeah!" was said with a lot of laughing.
"Ok, here it comes," Elena said as she tossed the bouquet behind her. She turned just in time to see it was Caroline who caught it. She noticed that her friend was looking everywhere but at Klaus.
"Ok ladies and gentlemen it is now time for the bride and groom's first dance," the singer of the band announced.
While Kol led Elena out on the dance floor others enjoyed watching the happy couple before joining them on the floor. Soon after Elena found herself dancing with Jeremy.
"Have I told you today how beautiful and happy you look?" Jeremy asked as they danced.
"No, I don't think so," Elena said teasingly.
"Well you are and I'm happy for you Elena," he said as the song ended.
"May I have this dance?" Klaus asked offering Elena his hand.
"Yes, you may," she said with a smile.
"I want to say welcome to the family and now my sisters will stop with we're outnumbered," he said making Elena giggle because Kol had told her the same thing earlier.
"That's the same thing Kol said earlier. Have you danced with Caroline yet?" Elena asked wanting to know.
"I believe she keeps avoiding me for some odd reason, not sure why," he exclaimed feigning innocence.
"I believe you enjoy getting her all flustered," Elena said looking him in the eye.
"I do believe you are right," Klaus said grinning, making Elena smile and shake her head.
"I happen to see to her standing right over there. You should go ask her to dance," she said looking to the left, making Klaus look to.
"I think I will after I finish this dance with my lovely sister," he said spinning her around.
"You look like you could use this," Bonnie said handing Elena a glass of water.
"Thank you, Bonnie I don't think I have danced so much in my life," Elena said.
"To think you still have another hot brother-in-law to dance with," Bonnie teased.
"May I steal my new sister away from you?" Elijah asked, smiling at Bonnie.
Dang his vampire hearing Bonnie thought.
"Welcome to the family Elena, it will be nice to have another sister," he said.
"Thank you, Elijah it's nice having sisters and two more brothers," she said.
"I see Niklaus is dancing with your friend Caroline, surprised she hasn't stabbed him a knife from one of the tables," he said jokingly.
"He said he enjoys getting her flustered so it will be his own fault if she does," Elena said with a smile.
"That is true, only hope she waits until the guests leave," he said laughing.
"May I cut in?" Kol asked.
"Yes, I probably should save Caroline from Niklaus," he said as he took his leave.
"What was that about?" Kol asked.
"Your brother loves to fluster Caroline and Elijah joked he was surprised Caroline hadn't done bodily harm to Klaus yet," she said smiling up at him.
"I think he met his match in her," Kol said pulling his wife closer.
"That he did," she agreed.
"I believe this is the perfect time for us to make our getaway," he whispered in her ear as he took her hand and led her from the room.
