"Abir... we've known each other for over one year now. We became friends, and fell in love, and even got married and hence bound for the rest of our lives... but there are still some things that I don't know, and I really wish I did." Abir tightens his arm around her shoulders.

"Yes Wifey? What is that that you want to know?" Mishti snuggles closer into her hubby's warm neck and rests there.

"Do you remember our first dinner date? Issi room me, ussi table pe..." she lifts her head a little and softly pecks his cheek "...aisi kissi ke bina"

"Yes, I remember that day, jab mai tumse milne tumare ghar gaya tha aur mujhe vahan sirf pillows mile the, kyunki tum toh yahan meri almari me chupi hui thi, Angry Chorni!" They both giggle together at the memory.

"Haan, aur uss din maine tumse ek sawal pucha tha, yaad hai?" She playfully taps above his ear. Abir makes a small frown as he tries to remember.

"Maine tumse yeh pucha tha..." Mishti places a firm hand on his waist to show him that she doesn't mind the fact that he doesn't remember "...ke tum mujhse pyaar kyun karte ho Abir?"

She sits up and gazes into his eyes, searching for her answer, and he gazes back into hers, admiring their innocent beauty.  They stay frozen as such for about 30 seconds, then Abir, still not moving his eyes from their place, lifts his hand and places it on Mishti's cheek. His thumb settles lightly under her chin, as he begins to speak:

"Mishti, tumhe koi shak..."

"Nahi!" Mishti interrupts him with a shake.

"Mujhe tumare pyaar pe koi shak nahi hai Abir, aur naahi kabhi tha. Par mai bas uski wajah jaan na chahti hu..." she starts to blush and faces downwards "Tumhe mai pasand kyun aayi thi Abir? The first time?"

The first time... these words take Abir back to that afternoon. Bus ki chhat pe, khuli dhoop me, where she first stepped into his camera roll and then into his heart.

He hadn't seen her properly that day. But that hand hold, and that short conversation, were enough to set her apart from the rest. It seemed she also had a history of loosing people, and though she didn't say much, Abir felt the depth of her pain, as it sounded quite similar to his own. What he'd been through after the sudden disappearance of his father is something he would never wish upon anyone, and so the empathy he felt for her immediately gave her a place in his mind and heart.

But it wasn't love yet. It wasn't until after he'd witnessed her commit theft with such a strong sense of righteousness; watched her boldly confront the man who had wronged her loved one, even though he was her father; and after she'd almost been selected to be his brother's bride, that Abir realised that she'd been making his heart flutter in a way it had never done before.

Then the butterflies only began to increase, every time she became her playful self with him: Asking him 3 questions- her trademark, repeatedly falling for his little game of "suno!", and it was her who put forward her hand and initiated a friendship with him. In that offer to be friends, Abir felt wanted and respected by the only person he was so enthralled by.

Mishti had every kind of courage, and with it she could overcome just anything that life decides to throw at her. Abir was more sure of this than he was sure of his own future. When he started dreaming of a future with her by his side, even he doesn't quite remember... But he does remember very well the feeling, when her smiling face started appearing to him every time he closed his eyes. When she smiled, he felt as if the world that he was constantly trying to make a better place had finally reached its most perfect form.

"Abir!" Mishti waves in front of his lost face and raises her eyebrows at him. She begins to wonder if she shouldn't have asked that question. He loves her, always did and always will, she knows that, so does it really matter why?

"Kahan kho gaye the?"

"Bas tumare sawal ka jawab dhoond raha tha"

"Itne chote se sawal ka jawab dhoondne tum kahan chale gaye the?"

"Bhuj" He winks and she flares up.

"Kya? Bhuj... kya matlab hai tumara?"

"Relax Angry Chorni... I will explain. Vese, dobara kabhi yeh mat kehna ke tumara sawal bohot chota tha. Mann me koi bhi baat ayi, koi bhi doubt aaye ya koi bhi taarif aaye, chahe jitni bhi badi ho ya choti, voh relevant hai. Iss liye, bina soche bas puch lena chahiye."

"Abir I'm sorry... mujhe tumare pyaar pe koi doubt nahi hai, and I didn't want it to look like that. You don't have to answer the question if you don't want to."

"But I do want to Mishti..." He again delicately lifts her chin up "Sunogi?" She nods like a small child. He smiles and pulls her into his chest, keeping one hand on her shoulder and the other cradling her head.

" Tum ayi meri zindagi me,

Aur mujhe jeena sikha diya,

Har mushkil se kaise ladte hai,

Voh tareeka mujhe bata diya,

Meri dost banke, dosti ka,

Asli matlab tumne samjha diya.

Pehle tha mai banjaara, ab mere paas ghar hai,

Jab tum mere paas hoti ho, tab na chinta hai na fikar hai,

Kabhi aisa feel nahi kiya, jaisa tumhare liye karta hu,

Bas tum kahin mujhse kho na jao, yahi soch ke darta hu"
