Following the funeral, Aleks spent the rest of the afternoon playing video games and listening to music. Around 6 pm he rolled a joint and smoked a little of it before he ordered a couple of pizza's from Domino's. He had just returned to playing video games when he received a text message from Jessica.
R u up 4 a little company?
Aleks smiled at his phone. He had been hoping to hear from Jessica, but he wasn't sure she was going to be able to get away.
Always, I'll let u in
No need, your aunt told me where u keep the key J
Ok then
That was a little weird Aleks thought, why hadn't his aunt let him know that she had told Jessica where they kept the spare key for the back door. He didn't have to wait long to think about it, within minutes he heard the back door open and then shortly after that Jessica was walking through his bedroom door.
She had changed and put her hair up in a ponytail. Gone were her black skirt and blouse, replaced with yoga pants and a sweater. She had removed her make up as well but it really hadn't change her beauty at all thought Aleks.
"So you have your own key now?" Aleks asked with a slight smile as he embraced Jessica and gave her a hug.
"Not my own key silly, your aunt told me where you two hide the spare key for the back door. Just in case she said. I think she's a little worried about me now that it's just dad and I living at home."
"Humm, maybe. I'm surprised that she didn't tell me though."
"I'm sure she meant to, she probably just forgot," Jessica reassured Aleks. She picked up the photograph of his parents and looked at it intently for a few moments before placing it back on Aleks's dresser. She became quiet and moved over to the edge of the bed and sat down beside him. A few strands of Jessica's hair had fallen to the side of her face and Aleks gently re-positioned them back behind her ear. A lone tear had run down her cheek and he wiped that away with his hand before getting up and grabbing the box of tissue paper from his desk. He handed it to Jessica and then turned on his blue tooth player to provide a little music and perhaps change the mood. It had been a long dark day for Jessica and he wanted her to be able to relax for a few hours.
"It's hard you know. All these funerals,... they're really hard to get through," she quietly complained to him.
"I can't imagine Jess. One funeral is a lot to get through, let alone three. I feel so bad for you, I just wish there was something I could do to help you." Aleks could feel her grief as well as see it written all over her face.
"There is nothing you can do Aleks, you can't bring any of them back, no one can. It's crazy to think that one family can suffer through so much loss in such a short period of time. Somedays I wake up and I'm scared to get dressed and go out. I'm scared every time the phone rings that it's more bad news. I'm terrified that every time I say goodbye to someone I love or care about, that it's going to be the last time that I see them. I don't want to live like this Aleks," she lamented to him as the tears that had dried up earlier returned to race down her cheeks once again.
Nine inch Nails' "Closer" started to play as Aleks pulled himself up to the top of the bed and moved his legs in so he could lay behind Jessica on the far side of the bed. He then pulled her up beside him and helped her lay back against his pillow. He placed his hand on her cheek, pulling her face to his and tasting her lips, salty from the tears. They kissed slowly and deeply, savoring what they had been missing. Aleks let his hands wander down between Jessica's legs eliciting a moan from her mouth. He felt his own arousal growing as he enjoyed the heat that was coming from her body, electric to his touch.
