"You didn't have to do this for me, but I appreciate it." I thanked resting my hand above Christina's from across the table. Her cheeks turned a slight shade of pink and she smiled nervously, I glanced around the cafe admiring it. It was polished wooden walls and furniture around the small cafe and a nice fire place in the middle. All the workers wore black aprons that matched the black cushions on the chair, it really brought the place together in my opinion."I don't mean to be invasive but I over heard you talking to corbyn earlier today in the halls, you said you had a soul mate. Who is she?" Christina was looking at the sugar she had poured on the table for no apprentice reason. She ran her finger through it a couple of times just out of boredom. "Zach Herron is my soulmate. I could tell just by looking at him, he's the one I've been looking for." I felt butterflies in my stomach at the mere mention of his name, if that wasn't destiny I'm not sure what was anymore.
"Are you sure? Zach Herron isn't right.. something is off about him." The girl shook her head with discontent, though I didn't care at all actually. She didn't know me the way my heart did and I would follow my heart to the ends of the earth. My heart was known to never be wrong and despite the rudeness and slight off putting feeling zach gave me I knew he was the one.
I rested my chin against the palm of my hand watching christina worry "My heart is never wrong.""How do you know though, I wouldn't even call corbyn my soulmate yet and we have been together two years. You haven't even been to our school for more than eight hours." She became more worried and curiosity seemed to take control of the poor frail girl. "Trust me. My heart is never wrong."
I had full confidence in my heart, and my trust in it wouldn't be wavered today.I was right to believe in my heart because when I looked up to see the barista at the counter who had dropped an order all over the floor it was no other than Zach Herron. He cursed silently but I still caught it, he muttered something along the lines of 'fuck this.'
I stood from my stool and walked over to zach and began helping picking up the things he dropped, he didn't say much after recognizing my presence. After a minute or so of cleaning we both stood from behind croaxhed on this floor. "Thanks." He mumbled. "what?" I asked not completely sure if I heard him correctly.
"Thanks, if you're going to stalk me at least you're making yourself useful." He added and my eyes widened, I felt a bit abashed with my cheeks pink. I nodded before retreating to my chair where Christina had stood up grabbing her bag and putting it over her shoulder. "I was thinking we could stop and grab a bit of ice cream but I have to be home soon, we can eat in the car."
"Actually I think I'm going to stay behind.."i looked over at the employee door and awed seeing Zach through the small window. He looked to be conversing with a girl, I wish he would with me. I didn't even have a plan when Christina said her goodbyes and left me all alone, in-fact I only had a cup of coffee in my hand.I didn't even like the drink.
an hour passed before Zach had left the employee room, but it had also been an hour since another customer had walked in the building. It didn't seem as this café was a hot shot for the town, it was deserted apart from myself and the three employees who sat around bored out of their minds. I watched the blonde boy at the table in the back yawn and his head almost drop a few times. Clearly they weren't allowed to use their phones, but that seemed like a cruel punishment considering how lively this small building was. I felt my own mind beginning to feel fuzzy and sleep was becoming priority over any other thoughts.
