It was not until about half past midnight when Kwamena heard a loud bang on his door. The sound was loud enough to resuscitate someone in coma, not to talk of Kwamena who could barely catch a sleep.

He opened his eyes immediately, only to see the light he switched off have been turned on.

Suddenly there were strong winds blowing everywhere in the room. The curtains on the window looked like it was being torn apart by the strong winds. The light went off and came on again. This time Kwamena got very frightened. He jumped out of bed and squeezed himself at one corner of the room as if to penetrate the concrete wall.

Then he heared strange sounds of  women in distress. His ceiling fan came to a stand still and nothing seemed to be moving in the room, except the light which continuosly went off and on like the disco lights in a night club.

Frightened Kwamena, mustered some courage and moved from the wall to pick a strange brown bottle from his bag. The bottle was sealed with a red cloth and  a black feather attached to it. He immediately opened the bottle, dipped in the feather  and started sprinkling its content at all corners of the room, chanting "fall, fall !, Adjoa Amissah, I said fall !! ".

"Yes, this is exactly what the Mallam told me; sprinkle the concoction in the room, then command Adjoa Amissah to fall".

Right after his incantations there was a sudden calm in the room, everything went to its normal position. Excited Kwamena exclaimed "haha you go run, who say power no dey? Hw3 power dey papa". He placed the mysterious brown bottle on the table beside his bed and picked the akpeteshie bottle to finish its last drop.

Then he sat on the bed, breathing profusely like he just finished a marathon, recounting how he has been able to fall Adjoa Amissah after two unsuccessful attempts.

Moments later, the strong winds came again, this time, even stronger than the first one, with louder screams of women and crying babies. The blades of his ceiling fan seemed extended and was blowing at top speed like that of an helicopter. The light also went into its disco mode again.

Suddenly, a bright light shone on one side of the wall in his room. Behold, three giant images of Adjoa Amissah Kwamena's late girlfriend was erected on the wall. It was such a horror to behold.

Kwamena became very frightened by the horrific scenes in his room and was  shivering heavily.

He managed to move a little closer to the edge of his bed and stretched his hands to pick the bottle the Mallam gave him from the small table, unfortunately it slipped through his shaky hands and broke into pieces -as the mysterious bottle hit the cement floor.. "M'awu oo !!' (I'm dead!) he cried. The Mallam said if I fail this time I will go mad."

With Kwamena's last hope gone, it was just wise for him to surrender, maybe angry Adjoa Amissah's ghost will  be considerate enough to spare his life, like she has done the last two nights. Kwamena went on his knees and broke into tears begging one of the erected ghost images of Adjoa Amissah that was approaching him.

Kwamena: [crying] aaoow Adjoa fa me b)ne ky3 me aeye (Adjoa forgive me).

The ghost image raised its left hand and attempted to give Kwamena a dirty slap (it did, actually)

Kwamena: [stammering] aaw aaw Adjoa Amissah , please forgive me, you know it was never my intention to hurt you , I loved you very much and never wished that things will turn out this way. I promised to give you a good life and I was determined to keep to this promise no matter what the requirements were , 's3 me t) Benz no a, nky3 3b3 tena front bia ?' (If  I buy the Benz, you would have sat at the front right?) erhn, I had everything planned out perfectly. Joojo said the medicine was only to make you fall into a deep sleep so I could shave the pubic hairs on your private part, that is all the Mallam needed to do the magic cream which I will smear on my face anytime I am chatting with my clients online.

The timeline was two weeks, two weeks p3 oo, just two weeks na ma yi control... (and I will be rich) Ahh Adjoa, they never told me the medicine will kill you la, if I knew you would die, I wouldn't have used it on you in the first place.. oh, baby, baby girl please for giv..",

before he could finish his last sentence another slap landed on his face, Kwamena felt dizzy at once. Everything started moving around him, it was as if he was seated on a merry-go-round. Before the third slap could follow, he begun shouting on top of his voice, begging Adjoa Amissah whiles hastily looking for his way out of the room. He finally found his way to the door.

As he quickly opened the door to step out, Aunte Araba and her husband, together with some other neighbors were standing right in front of his door seeking to give him a helping hand.

Kwamena stumbled and fell on his knees upon seeing them.
"baadze a ?" (what is it) one of the neighbors inquired, Kwamena kept crying and couldn't utter a word.

Aunte Araba: b3y3 nansa nyi, anadwo biara 3y3 dede demaa, baadze na )re haw

(Aunte Araba asked why kwamena have been making noise at midnight for the past three days)

Kwamena replied; strange voices, strong winds, every midnight, midnight erections, ghost images here and there, aww help, help me... see, there they are, they're coming !!

Aunte Araba: what do you mean? we can't see anything.

Before he could explain further,
Kwamena saw the ghost images of Adjoa Amissah approaching him at a faster pace. He kept begging and crying for forgiveness but the image will not spare him this last slap .. kpaa ! The final slap came, obviously the heaviest of it all. Kwamena rolled on the floor in the presence of his neighbors and cried out like a little child.

After a brief moment of sorrow Kwamena bursted into serious laughter, scratching his head and attempting to take off his boxer shorts to completely go naked.

He stood up all of a sudden and rushed for the main gate, singing and dancing like a school boy singing a Friday closing anthem.

" S3 aany3 yie a ,na ofri whana ? Adjoa Amissah ee , yie ye, yie ye , Adjoa Amissah na woa y3 ama no ay3 pasaa"

(If it didn't go well, only Adjoa Amissah is to blame)

He sang this last chorus and dashed out of the compound house.

Leaving all the neighbors in shock and dumb folded,

Aunte Araba broke the silence with both hands on her head saying : "Aaoow, Kwamena na waabodam no o"

(Aaoow, Kwamena has gone mad o)

The end.
