Back to School

Sorry for the delay loyal readers, been working a lot on the new book which in the pipeline of being put on here.

Soon it was time to return to Hogwarts, as Harry and Hermione could Apparate, they were going to take Ginny in side along apparation to Hogsmeade and walk into Hogwarts, this meant that they could have a more leisurely day, not having to rush to catch the Train. 

Harry and Ginny had decided to keep the knowledge of her Firebolt secret until the next match, so they had put it back into its box and wrapped it back up in brown paper to disguise it.  They hoped that when Ginny appeared on it in the next match, it’s presence on the pitch would cause enough surprise to put off the opposition, Ginny would continue to train using her old broom until that time. 

They apparated late that evening to Hogsmead, just outside the school gates, where Professor Vector was stationed. 

They walked up to the castle in high spirits happy to be back, although Hermione was quieter than usual, she was still upset that Ron hadn’t returned with them, although she had given him a kiss and warm hug before they had left the burrow, and had made Ron promise to write often. 

They were some of the first back, the train hadn’t arrived yet, so the castle was strangely empty, this enabled Ginny to take her broom up to Gryffindor tower and hide it without many questioning looks.  

They all made for the main hall, Ginny sitting with them on their table while they waited for the rest of the students to arrive. 

Talk had returned to school matters, lessons, Quidditch and how soon they might expect to take some of their NEWT exams. 

Draco and Pansy were sat at the other end of the table, talking quietly, they didn’t attempt to talk to Harry or the others. 

It wasn’t long before the rest of the students arrived, Ginny made her way back to the Gryffindor house table, there was the usual feast, while eating they all talked about all the things people had done or received over Christmas.  Lots of the other senior students asked where Ron was, thinking he must be ill or something not to have returned, Harry explained that Ron had left and had got a job, he said it as loudly as he could without making it obvious, so that everyone heard, he didn’t want everyone to keep on asking him as it was making Hermione more upset than ever. 

Soon it was time for bed, he managed to catch Ginny before she made her way to the Gryffindor tower and give her a good nights kiss, which provoked a number of catcalls from other students milling past.  He then made his way to the senior’s dormitories with Hermione, he said goodnight outside the girls then decided to go straight to bed.  It was now more than ever that Harry found things most strange, before now Ron had always occupied the bed next to him, it would be very different having an empty bed between him and the rest of the boys.  He also now understood how hard it must have been for Ron and Hermione, he would have liked nothing better than to have Ginny sneak into the boys dorm and slip into his bed.  For them it must have been even harder, being only one room away from each other. 

The next morning was a lazy one for Harry, he new the first period was free, so decided to have a lie in, he knew that he would miss breakfast, but he also knew the secret entrance to the House Elf’s kitchen, so he got up late, the dormitory was empty, he made his way to the kitchens where the Elf’s were only two willing to make him a couple of bacon sandwiches, it was a very nice way to start the week, but Harry made a promise to himself not to make a habit of it, it wasn’t fair on anyone else to take advantage of his knowledge of the school or the Elf’s.
