Vernado waits for me to get up on the porch before he pulls off. I open the door to my house with my brand new key. It has the Baltimore Ravens logo on it and I LOVE it. I got it made at the key place a few days ago. Even though I was born in Florida and raised in LA, I love the Ravens. Football is my favorite sport to watch.

I head up to my room, careful to be quiet enough that no one can hear. I'm too tired to even remember that I gave Vernado my number and he could text me any minute now. I go to the bathroom and plop on my bed, ready to finally fall asleep.

My phone vibrates.

I open my eyes and lift my phone up to see an unknown number texting my phone. Who else could it be other than this annoying boy?

Vernado: Hey Vanessa it's Vernado😘 I'm home now

I roll my eyes at the kissy face.

Me: Great, now leave me alone I'm trying to sleep.

V: You looked really beautiful tonight. I love your hair.

M: Thank you. Good Night.

V: We both know you aren't going to sleep right now Vanessa

M: Ok, who says I want to spend my night texting you of all people

V: Look I'm sorry Vanessa, I really just think that you and I could really be something. And when I ran into you tonight by coincidence I just couldn't not take a chance on you. I know I acted stupid and moved too fast. All I want is for you to give me a chance.. I'm just gonna stop begging you because I can't force it

M: Okay but you teased me for so long and then all of a sudden want to ask me out? I'm not with any of these games right now

V: I know, I'm sorry. You're just going to have to trust me. I'm not giving up. But if something makes you uncomfortable then I'll stop. I just really like you Vanessa..

M: Show me don't tell me

V: I will. Goodnight beautiful, get some rest

M: Good Night.

I toss my phone to the side and head to sleep.
