Rebelling Against Mac

Francesca's POV:
The small group of us was in the room to exit the building. Caitlin had stayed back with the men who were tied up. Nauls came back inside from being in the snow. He was covered in ice and was shivering. "Where's Mac?" I said. "I cut him loose." Nauls replied. "Cut him loose? Why'd you cut him loose?" Caspian asked. "I found this. It was hidden in his shack. I don't think he saw me find it but here. I got ahead of him on the guide line, then I cut him loose." Nauls said. He took a shirt out of his jacket. It was Mac's shirt all torn up. Windows held it in his hands and said "MacReady? When do you think it got to him?" "He's one of them." Nauls quickly said. "Could've been anytime. Anywhere." Palmer replied. "If it got to him." Childs added. "The lights were out!" Palmer said. Norris nodded and said "that would've been the perfect time." "Right, you said guys were missing. And Windows where were you?" Palmer asked. Windows threw MacReady's shirt on the ground and said "hey, Palmer I told you to shut your mouth!" He lunged at Palmer who immediately backed away from him. Norris tried to step in and push Windows back. I grabbed Windows by his arm and tried pulling him back. "Windows!" Childs said as he grabbed a fistful of his shirt. Norris shoved Windows into the corner and said "this is just what it wants! To pit us against each other!" "Why do the two of you have to fight?!" I yelled at Palmer and Windows. "Stop it!" Echo said. The door handle began to jiggle and Nauls stood up, running behind Palmer and Norris. "Let's open it!" Palmer said. Childs had his flamethrower aimed at the door. "Hell no!" He said. Windows stood up and stood next to me. "You think he's changed into one of those things?" He asked. "He's had plenty of time!" Norris replied. "Nothing human could've made it back here through this weather without a guide line." Childs said. Palmer shook his head and said "let's open the door now!" Childs looked at Palmer crazily and said "why are you so damn anxious to let him in here?" "Because it's so close! It may be our only chance to blow it away!" Palmer replied. Childs shook his head and said "no! Just let him freeze to death out there!" "Childs, what if we're wrong about him?" Windows said. Childs looked at Windows and said "well then, we're wrong!" "If he's not a thing, we can't leave him to die." I said. "He is! Look at the shirt!" Palmer said. "How do we know that? It could've been planted in his shack." I replied. "Bullshit!" Childs said. I looked at him and said "how is that bullshit? We can't be wrong about this. If he's human, we need to let him inside." Childs stepped to me and said "I'm not letting him in here." The sound of glass breaking erupted into the air and Palmer said "the supply window!" "He's in here!" Norris quickly said. Childs walked past the group and everyone headed for the supply room. The door was locked so Childs began to break it down. "You're a dead man, MacReady!" He yelled. When he got the door open, MacReady was inside holding a flare very close to dynamite. "Anyone messes with me and the whole camp goes. Come on, Childs. Burn me." He said. My eyes widened and Echo took a step back from the door. "Put those torches on the floor and back off." Mac said. Palmer and Caspian immediately set their flamethrowers on the ground. Childs did the same but slowly. Mac began to walk out of the room. Windows stood in front of me protectively and Caspian did the same for Echo. "You asshole." MacReady said to Childs. "You would've done the same thing." He replied. "Don't argue with him." Palmer said. MacReady looked at Windows and I. "I tried to let you in." I said, hoping he wouldn't be mad. "Frank, I know you wouldn't of left me in the snow. I'm not stupid. Where's the rest?" Nauls and Norris tackled him from inside the room. Caspian shielded Echo and MacReady quickly stood up, threatening to blow us all up once again. "Don't!" I said to Nauls. "Come on man, I mean it!" MacReady yelled. "It's cool, MacReady! It's cool, man, come on!" Nauls said to MacReady. "Yeah, man! Just relax!" Palmer said as he stood behind Childs. MacReady laughed and said "anybody touches me, and we go." I bit my lip and Windows made me stand completely behind him. Everyone was silent for a minute. "He's not breathing!" Nauls said. "Who?" I asked. "Norris." I stepped out from behind Windows who said "Frankie, stay here." I walked to the doorway and Palmer said "Mac, Frankie's coming in." I looked at Norris in the corner of the room. MacReady nodded and told me I could go over to him.

"I think he's having a heart attack. I'm gonna need Copper's help." I said to him. "Go untie the doc. Now!" Palmer quickly nodded and ran off. Childs walked into the room and I said "we gotta carry him to the infirmary." Childs nodded and Caspian walked in. Him and Childs carried him to the infirmary. Copper was then untied and the two of us had to help Norris.

This is short but the next chapter will make up for it!!
