Well you only need the light when it's burning low
Karima held the torch for Emily as she climbed into the attic

Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Karima groaned as the flakes began to hit the ground. "I hate when it's snows," she grumbled much to Emily's laughter.

Only know you love her when you let her go
"I could've stopped her," Emily sobbed into Lindsey's arms, "I shouldn't have let her go!"

Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
"Aaaaahh!" Karima screamed as they went down the rollercoaster. She complained about how much she hated it but when the ride ended, she whispered to Emily "Can we go on it again?"

Emily couldn't go back to their place. It reminded her too much of the woman she loved.

"Can't you bring her back?" Emily was hysterical "Resuscitate her?"

The nurse shook her head. "There's nothing we could do." She said.

Staring at the bottom of the glass, hoping one day you'll make a dream last
Emily hadn't been herself. Now she turned to alcohol and sleepless nights.

Emily couldn't get up though. Everything around her was awake, but she couldn't function.

"What would I do without you?" Emily asked as she got down from the attic. She was met with a shrug, maybe they were meant to be.

"Come on Karima!" Emily dragged her wife into the bitter air. "It's sooo cold!" Karima whined.

Emily sat there, staring at the lifeless body of the partner she had shared so much love with

"Come on Em!" Karima begged. "Can't we go again?"
Her wife sighed, looking at the same rollercoaster they had been on 4 times. "Fine."

Emily stared at the building. It mean nothing to her now.

Emily could hear the doctors talking. The words though went one ear and out the other.

Staring at the ceiling in the dark, same old empty feeling in your heart
"You guys will work through your problems!" Emily's mom told her after her daughter came crying to her about her wife kissing someone else. "You're meant to last forever!"

Love comes slow and it goes so fast
"I've never been in love before." Emily said to Karima after their wedding ended. Her new wife frowned. "We've only been together for three years," she teased.

Emily cursed the snow settling on the ground. A bitter cold reminder of the woman who left her.

Emily held her hand. Karima was dead to the doctors but her memory lived on for Emily.

Emily watched her nieces and nephews squeal with excitement after getting off a ride. And it took everything not to shed a tear.

"Where you gonna go Emily?" Her sister asked. Emily didn't know. There was no where she could call home.

Emily would do anything to see Karima again. Just to feel her touch.

"Don't you want to go to an amusement park?" Emily's friend jovially said.

Emily decided for the first time in a while, to do the beds.

It was snowing. But Emily decided to go outside.

Emily sighed before shocking everyone. "I'll go to the amusement park."

Emily's parents took one look at their daughter on their doorstep, before engulfing her in the biggest embrace.

Emily looked at the photos of Karima that she was planning to put in the attic.

And she gently kissed each one before passing them to her mother to put in the attic.

"Em?" Emily was jolted up from her seat. Lindsey sighed. "It's time."
Emily sighed. It was time to start the process of letting Karima go.
