"Jas, Jasmine, wake up, Jasmine you have to wake up or else you will be in serious trouble. Jasmine?" What?.
I opened my eyes slowly. Oww my head. Noticing the environment. What happened. I placed my hand on my head.
This is not the bathroom of the police station.
"Jasmine"
Huh?. Who is Jasmine. Who is this lady that is staring at me.
W A I T.
I stood up with full force and speed. Ouch. My head slammed the plank above the bed. Oh my head. Why is there wood above my head.
"Hey Jasmine, thank the lord you finally awake from your slumber. The head maid is going to be very furious. We have to go back to our stations and continue our work "
She grabbed my wrist and attempted pull me up. "Who is jasmine?","what". I blink a few times. Urgg that hit on the head must have really affected me. I looked down at my clothes. What am I wearing. There was so much heat. Who wears this many layers of clothes in summer. Wait. These aren't even my clothes.
I finally took in my surroundings. Wooden planks. The whole place was made of wooden planks. Haven't they ever heard of cement. The bed, the door, the floor, the roof. The whole place it was made of wood. Painted dark brown with tiny scribbling here and there.
I finally looked up fully accommodating the site before me.
A woman.
No scratch that, a young lady about a few years older than me. In the same attire that I was in. With an ancient updo hairstyle with different complicated twists in a crown pattern.
She had a worried expression on her face as she stared down at me.
Different thoughts began to sway about in my head. Was I possibly kidnapped and the lady in front of me was one of the hostages too. That's the only explanation. Of course I was kidnapped. This is really how my life turned out to be. No family left, no belongings whatsoever and here I am, kidnapped with no one to even bother to look for me. Good job Ember, you really outdone yourself this time.
A soft hand pulled me out of my thoughts. "Jasmine are you alright?" I stare at her with furrowed brows. Why did she keep referring to me as jasmine?. Did I look like a jasmine?. " Jasmine you are frightening me, come on we must leave at once before the head maid notices our absence". She practically grabbed my wrist and pulled me up from the bed leading me outside the wooden home in a hurried attempt.
My gaze adjusted to the sunlight immediately making me notice the environment. This was definitely not my town. It was so different. The houses were all similar. Small cottages made of wood all in identical models. No form of electricity.
I stopped abruptly, making the lady at my front stop too. She looked back at me with a puzzled expression plastered on her face. "Ummm please where am I? This is definitely not maceville".
"Mace what? And jasmine why do you seem to be speaking in that manner""Please where am I?" I ask brushing of her question of my speaking manner. I should have been the one asking her that. She spoke in such a wierd accent and used old english and here she was asking me about my 'wierd' speaking manner.
"You are in the kings palace in sulan the capital of mein" she said like it like it was an obvious fact.
WHAT...
I am in what? OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod OmyGod.
My brain went on overdrive at that particular moment. If this was an animation, my brain would have probably exploded.
Mein?
That used to be what they called the central republic of Piln over like what three hundred years ago?.
Am so dead. Does that mean I went three hundred years into the past?. I was in 1720?.
Oh crackers.
"Jasmine?, Jasmine are you alright. We best leave before the head maid sees us doing nothing".
I removed my arm from her grip with more force than I intended. "Stop it. Why do you keep calling me jasmine. My name is November. November Brimmer not Jasmine ok?."
She stood there with eyes wide open and lips slightly apart"what?".
"What could possibly be going on here. What do the both of you think you are doing galivanting around instead of working?"
A lady probably in her mid forties interrupted us. With bits of grey hair lining her hair whicj was in a tight bun and a few wrinkles present by the sides of her eyes. She stood there with an air of authority even though she had a stunt height. Her clothes similar to ours but embroidered around the neck and hands unlike ours, fit her slightly chubby body. Her stare made me want to shrink in place.
The lady by my side bowed slightly at her with trembling hands. "Apologies head maid. We were just heading back to the kitchen".
I looked at the lady by my side slightly confused but then I remembered her saying something about the head maid earlier. So this was the head maid. I bowed my head slightly too imitating the lady by my side.
She nodded her head keeping her lips in a tight line "leave now to the kitchen and I dont want a repeat of this am I clear".
"Yes head maid. Thank you". The lady by my side said taking my hand and leading me away from the head maid.
