Susan's POV
I applied the last of my lipstick and closed the cap. I stood up and smoothed out my dress and went downstairs. Katie will come home any time and I could barely contain my happiness. Mason grinned wolfishly at me from the living room couch and I swatted his arm. " you look hot. Peach is totally your color." I blushed. It has been 4 years since he proposed to me and I had accepted. " Katie will be here any minute. Are you ready?" He smiled softly as his eyes held unshed tears. "yeah, can't wait for my pumpkin. Its been so long."
It was my time to grin. When she called 3 nights ago saying she was coming to stay, I couldn't believe it. All these years she stayed away abroad thinking she was going to be a distraction to mine and Mason's home life. Little did she know we adored her. she was the rock that kept me from separating from Mason in the time of fights. But all was right now and I was happy yet worried for her. She was the daughter I never had. She was beautiful and a genius as well as a heavily trained fighter. She had no idea how much me and Mason were proud of her. The doorbell rang and snapped me out of my reverie. I made my way to the door but Mason. beat me to it. He opened it to reveal the mailman. I couldn't hide the disappointment I felt. Mason looked annoyed at the mailman and glared at the mailman while he cowered away. He extended his arm to give out the mail and Mason snatched it away.
He came inside and pouted at me. " She didn't come!" I giggled and it made him smile. He came to me and took me in his arms while slowly and leisurely pecking my lips. I moaned and the doorbell rang again. I pulled back abruptly and swiftly went to answer the door. There, as I opened the door, standing on the porch was my niece. For a while I couldn't move. This was the girl that left me only 4 years back? She was dressed in black leggings with black ankle boots, a huge loose trendy black tank top with silver wings on it and a fitted white cardigan with it. Her hair was in a French tail braid and she had diamond studs in her ears and nose.
"Katie!!!" I hugged her tightly and she returned the hug just as fiercely. Mason came up behind me and took her in his arms as well. When he pulled back, I could see fatherly pride on his eyes as well as tears. Katie looked radiant and she grinned back at him. "well do you wanna meet and greet outside or would you rather come in?" I said and ushered them inside.

Katelyn's POV
I dropped down on my bed and sighed. IT has been a long day. After coming home, Susan made me eat all sorts of delicious food. Although I missed susan's cooking, she made me eat too much, much more that I usually eat. Mason tried not to look ecstatic and instead reserved. But he just couldn't pull it off. Knowing that, it made me grin. My room looked just like I had left it. Light blue undertones and neat. I never had any type of craze over any band, hence the lack of graphic tees and posters. Instead, a bulletin board lined one side of the bed, while a mural of pictures hung on the other wall. My bed was made up of white comforter and pillows. I had a neat little window and window seat, opposite the door, while my desk was opposite my bed. My walk in closet was located behind my bed.
But the best feature was the small hidden compartment next to my closet disguised inside the wall. That was it. My inspiration to do great things behind the curtain. Figuratively speaking, of course. I first discovered it when I was ten and a stray kitten I had adopted had hid in my room. I was really mad at her for eating my brownies. They were the first brownies I made, after all! Little did I know that I would be solving problems between my aunt and Mason. At first I was hesitant to open the compartment door. But then I remembered what Mason said that day in practice. " In order to do the right thing, you must be fearless. Fear is only in the head and your conscience. If you over come it, you can do unimaginable things!" I still remember it as clear as day. I felt pathetic for the fact that I was hesitant to open a door. I shoved it open, to find out that it was actually just a dusty old room. I was so excited! The things I could do in there. And nobody would know! However, when I went downstairs to tell susan and Mason, I heard them yelling at each other. I suddenly felt like crying. I already lost my real parents. I didn't want to lose the substitutes either.
Ever since that day, I solved their problems without them knowing. Like one time, Susan thought Mason was cheating on her. I hunted that woman down only to find that she was a leech that wouldn't leave Mason the fuck alone. I called her and threatened her tell susan the truth, Or else. She did and Susan never doubted Mason again. But when years later it seemed as if they weren't going to break off and dump eachother, I felt as if I came in between them and they would be better off without me. Then the offer from Cory came along and I left for good, even if they practically begged me not to go.
I sighed. Remembering old times never seemed to do me any good. In return, it just made me more depressed. But whats in the past is in the past. I sat up on the bed and smirked. The future is ahead and I for one am very excited for the first step In my revenge; high school.
