He opened his eyes once, and everything was blurry. He didn't know where he was at first, but he knew the scent was familiar. He dosed off for a second, but tried opening them again. Everything was still blurry but atleast he could make up his surroundings. Sweat dropped down from his eyes giving him a burning sensation, and just as he rubbed his eyes, it started to make sense, he was..
"Hey, hey, hey we're at my place, bro." Jamie said rushing to Marty's side.
He had a bottle of cool water in his hand for Marty. He was in Jamies' living room, on his long brown couch. He was shirtless, and swimming in a pool of his own sweat. He wreaked of forest leaves, and charred skin.
"I had to get you somewhere safe. Here, take this!" Jamie said.
He wasn't sure if Marty was disoriented, or if he was fully aware of what was going on. Nonetheless, he was there for him.
Marty glanced at the bottle, and grabbed it slowly. He took a few gulps, and sat the bottle on the floor. He looked down to see that his wound, was healed. Still speechless, he sat upright, and touched his left-side abdomen.
"Jesus, I guess I can say I'm a survivor of a stabbing." Marty said while smiling
Jamie smiled, and scoffed, as he knew that his friend, was out of the woods. However, he had to get to the hard news. The one thing he didn't want to go over with Marty but it was essential for their survival.
"You're good now man. And listen, I'm not sure if you remember but you were yelling kind of like a girl when I took out the wolfsbane" Jamie said while grinning.
"I remember, it was probably the most painful thing I've ever felt." Marty said as he adjusted himself on the couch. He could practically feel the burning of the pocket torch just thinking about it.
"Hey listen, I had to knock you out. But before I did. I saw something"
Jamie sat next to Marty, and looked to the floor.
"You killed someone last night. And it doesn't matter if it was self defense or not. The hunters are going to come for us harder than ever. Now it'll be easier for them to figure out which one of us did it.. What I saw last night was proof of that. Your eyes were.."
"Blue" Marty finished. He flashed his eyes.
"So that's what it means. Yen, and Jon had blue eyes too... damn. " Marty continued. The grin on his face wiped away faster than a speeding bullet. He realized the seriousness that this took. I mean, in this world, you don't get a lawyer, and prison time. You get cut in half with no jury.
"They will cut us in half if they find us.. and I like both my halves, but this is also a big town. They may never suspect or find us. " Jamie respondedMarty got up, and paced back and forth. He didn't feel bad for the guy. He tried to kill him first. But the fact that he knew he was capable of murder made him sick. He wasn't some deranged psychotic killer. He was just a boy defending himself, against his would-be murderer.
"What are we going to do?" Marty said. He looked at Jamie for help. He quickly realized that his decision of being supernatural was clouded by power, and misjudgment.
"We're gonna be college students. No more supernatural bullshit. The more we stay out of it. The better." Jamie said.
He was still unsure if he should go looking for that man from last night (Or tell Marty). The town population was well over 30,000 people, but of that, 11,000 of them were college students. Red Cove was a quiet town, but known for being a town of college students. How was he going to draw him out.
Marty was biting his nails. He started becoming paranoid. He didn't realize how real losing his pack was until now.
Then, the long silence began, and a wave of trepidation hit Marty like a wave.
"Look, let's get you some clothes, and go to the Blend Lounge. I think what we need is normal. The hunters can't suspect us if we're college students trying to socialize." Jamie said
The Blend Lounge was the local hookah bar all the college students went to. The hookah was cheap, the WiFi was free, the food was great, but most of all; there were girls.
