Gemma
My phone fell off the bedside table as it vibrated violently, waking me up. Letting out a tired sigh I leant over the side of the bed and brought the phone to my ear.
"Hello." I grunted sleepily.
"Hiya Gemma, is Russ there?"
"Hi Dan, um..." I quickly looked over my shoulder to the left side of the bed, "No, i think he's already gone."
"Okay, sorry for waking you." Daniel chuckled. We promptly said our goodbyes, letting each other get back to our own business. I rubbed my eye sleepily and saw i'd received a text from Kerry saying: "Hiya, i'll be round at 8ish, see you then! xx".
"Shit!" I exclaimed, remembering the plans we'd made for the day. I jumped out of bed and ran over to my wardrobe, pulling on clothes before brushing my long brown hair and ithrowing on a bit of make up. I jogged downstairs and put some bread in the toaster before filling Archie's bowls. One with food and the other with fresh water.
There were two knocks at the door and twice as many barks from Archie. I strolled over to the front door and opened it to reveal Kerry smiling as wide as ever.
"Hellooo!" She said stepping onto the cream carpet that covered the hallway floor. "Hi Arch" She added looking down at the hyper mutt circling her feet. "Just woke up?"
"What makes you say that?!"
"Toast has popped." She grinned, pointing to the kitchen. I giggled as she followed me into the kitchen and watched as I spread a thin layer of butter onto my slice of toast and began munching on it.
Kerry
As always we began a conversation from thin air, talking for hours linking one odd subject to another. At lunch we headed to the café and took Archie with us. It was so great to have a quick face-to-face catch up with each other inbetween work rather than over the phone. Just like the good old days when we were 10. We split the bill and stopped by the park before going back to Gemma's house. We watched Archie run around for a bit while sitting on a crooked wooden bench.
"So how's life?" I asked.
"Do you mean a certain life in particular such as love life?" Gemma replied cockily.
"Maaybe." I joked.
"It's going perfectly." She blushed.
"Really?!" I smiled as Gemma nodded her head slightly. "I'm such a good matchmaker."
"What about Charly and Daniel, you didn't set them up and they're doing well."
"Shh!" I replied through slightly gritted teeth. We laughed together before heading back to Gemma's place for a few more hours together.
Gemma
Kerry left quite suddenly after we looked at the clock and saw we'd lost track of time and she needed to get back home to Gabriel. We hugged each other good bye and I watched her drive round the corner before heading back inside. It's always lovely being home alone with Archie. Whether it's a funny play around or a quiet hug. It's usually always better with Russell here too though.
"Woof! Woof!" Archie barked at me from the living room.
"What you want eh?" I smiled at him wagging his tail as he sat in front of the telly with it on. "Did you turn that on?" I queeried confused yet somewhat impressed. I snuck my hand under his round, white belly and lifted him up. I sat on the sofa with my feet resting on the end and Archie on my stomach, both of us glaring at the tv screen as the darkness of the night drew closer.
Russell
"Hello." I called out to the silent house as I closed the door behind me and put my bag on the floor, throwing my keys on the small table behind the front door.
"Gem?!" I stood silently listening for any noises before taking my jacket off. It sounded like just the tv was on. Why was the telly on? I slipped off my jacket and hung it off the banister and walked into the living room, hoping that I didn't step on any of Archie's chewed toys. I turned off the television first, waking up Archie.
"Alright Smasher!" I grinned at him bearing his teeth, almost happy to see me after a long day. I ruffled up his fur on his head and then knelt down so that I was face to face with Gemma. I watched her sleeping for a few moments before Archie nudged her chin and woke her from her slumber. "Hey." I whispered.
"Hi." She replied smiling. I admired her dimples on either side of her beautiful smile, as I always do and winked.
"Comfy there or do you wanna come up?" She giggled at me messing around with her and took a hold of my hand, following me up the stairs and into our bedroom, where we both quickly got changed into our pyjamas and hopped under the covers and cuddled closely together. That was before Archie intervened and jumped on top of my legs.
Settling down at the bottom of the bed, Archie quickly fell sound asleep. Leaving me and Gemma to share a few kisses before falling asleep comfortably within each other's loving grip.
