I opened my eyes in fright. My left arm was hanging over the edge of the bed, my legs tangled together next to my scrunched up duvet that was pushed away from me. My face was buried deep in my pillow and my skin was hot, sweat oozing down my forehead. My heavy breathing was muffled by the pillow case that covered my face. I put my hands flat on the mattress and pushed myself up to look over my right shoulder. I sighed with relief to see Gemma still snuggled up under the covers.   I sighed and grunted as I got out of bed to wash my face with water to cool myself down.

Another nightmare. The second one this week, or third if you count that 5 second one while I was daydreaming.  I dabbed the towel on my cheeks to dry off the dripping water I'd just splashed over my boiling skin. I looked up from the towel and straight into my reflection in the mirror screwed on the back of the cupboard doors of the bathroom wall.

"Fucking hell." I muttered, glaring at my hot rosy cheeks and tired eyes. I looked down and sighed. "4 years Russ he's gone. Gone." I told myself, putting the towel back on the rack. I looked back at my reflection to only scrunch my eyes tightly shut. In the musty darkness of the inside of my closed eyelids I saw their faces, both with two different feelings painted across them. One showed anger. Another showed fear. Then blood.

"No." I said, opening my eyes quickly in fear. My sight was blurred due to the sudden opening of my eyes. As soon as it cleared up I strolled downstairs to make myself some coffee. I'm not nodding off to dream of any of that shit again.

Gemma

My alarm clock ringed right through my ears, causing me to jolt up and hit my head on the bookshelf above our bed.

"Ahh fuck!" I exclaimed, holding my hand to my sore forehead and switching off the alarm with my  left hand. "Ow ow ow ow!" I said, climbing out of bed and towards the bathroom to see if it left a mark. It did. A thick red line sat across my forehead just above my left eye. I exhaled heavily.

I hadn't had a mark on my face this bad since I started dating Russell. What if he freaks out. Or my sisters, or Kerry or anybody! I brushed my hair so that it covered up most of the red mark. It'll go soon right? I strolled down stairs to get a drink and some breakfast.

I got up to put my empty mug next to the sink to be washed later and saw Gemma in there putting toast into the toaster.

"Morning." I smiled, wrapping my arms around her waist.

"Morning." She giggled, resting her hands on mine. "When did you get up?"

"Little while ago, couldn't sleep well."

"Awh baby" She smiled, turning around to face me and kissing me gently on the nose. I blushed and smiled back at her before frowning. There was a mark poking out from under her fringe. Admittedly, it scared me. I lifted up my hand and carefully brushed her hair aside, revealing a big red line on her forehead.

"Wha-"

"The alarm clock scared me..." She said, looking down to her feet. I sighed with relief. I knew it was true, and I was glad that it wasn't anything worse.

"Why is it still on at this time?!" I asked, gently pushing her fringe back over the red line.

"I- I actually don't know" She giggled. I joined in her giggles and then let her go so that she could butter her toast and I could put my coffee mug next to the sink. I leant against the kitchen worktop and saw my phone next to the kettle. I picked it up and quickly looked through it. There was a text from my agent, Phil saying "About 3 weeks until your re-tour of RHRN, time to wash your thong :)" I rolled my eyes and sighed but then again he had a point, I better start getting my shit together and sort stuff out or i'll leave it too late and be screwed. I put my phone back down and looked over to Gemma. She was chewing on the last bite of her toast and gazing out of the window.
