Sasha
The girl, she had strong features. Not muscular strong, but high, defined cheekbones, with arching eyebrows and green eyes that reflected the flames of her hair, creating the illusion that her eyes were on fire too.
She must have finally realized that she was standing in a highly flammable area, because all of a sudden her hair extinguished. She turned around, looked at the staircase, than spoke a couple of words. The hole closed slowly, making no noise, and leaving the forest in darkness again.
I nimbly climbed over to the tree that Skyler was in, and she stared at me wide eyed. I put my finger to my lips, motioned for her to stay here, then I jumped.
Skyler
What was she doing?! Does she want Ms. Flaming-haired-girl-who-could-burn-the-whole-forest-down-with-just-a-thought to burn the forest down? Like heck I would stay here.
I climbed down the tree as quickly and quietly as possible, which didn't trun out to be very fast or quiet. I'd never been in a tree mind you!
When my feet touched the ground i breathed out a sigh of relief. I'm not afraid of heights, but trees were just too unfamiliar. I looked up.
There wasn't anyone there! Maybe I was just to focused on climbing down the tree that I didn't see them leave. Or maybe I just can't see them because it's night, and very, very dark. I shivered. Well, now what am I supposed to do?
I couldn't just walk away, I have no idea how to get around the forest! I wished I would've been paying attention more, than I would still be up in the clouds, Sasha would've been home with her family all safe and sound, and the girl with the flaming hair wouldn't have kidnapped her.
Snap. I looked around wildly. What was that! It was a twig snapping, I was sure of it. Okay, maybe 90 percent sure. No, 78 percent.
Anyway, going after my could've-been-my-imagination-twig seemed better than just standing around, gaping at the trees like a loser.
I listened some more, trying to see if it would happen again so I had a better sense of where to go, but nope. I headed off to the right, since it seemed more like it came from that direction, and tried not to make too much noise.
Sasha
Well, what the heck. She had flaming hair, she came out of the ground, and then she starts walking like she knows excatly where shes going.
Not good. The trees whisper. Shes not good Not from here Not good Flames. Not good. Their whispers sound lulling, even though theres a hint of panic. Their voices sound connected, and echoie. Like there's thousands of them that speak in my mind at the same time, the same exact thing, melting together to form one sentence out of a thousand slow thoughts.
Somehow, that doesn't help my growing sense of unease. I start to follow her, quick and quiet. She keeps on looking behind her, as if she's expecting someone to come out of that hole and follow her.
So, I leap up to a tree and start following her that way, leaping from branch to branch just as swiftly as if I was walking.
Finally, she stops. I watch her for a second as she sits down. She seemed harmless, and tired. Despite the trees warnings, I feel a pang of pity. Just as I was about to leap down and help her though, I hear a rustling in the brush.
My head snaps over there, then I see a mass of blonde curls emerging from behind a tree. Skyler! What in the world is she doing here, I told her to stay put!
Skyler walked over the the girl determidly, keeping her head held high and defiant. The red-head still hadn't seen or heard her, to my suprise, so I take the oppurtunity and jump down behind her, pulling her back behind a tree and covering her mouth so she doesn't scream. I spin her around and look into her startled electric blue eyes.
She breathes out a sigh of relief.
"I thought you had been kidnapped! I mean, I climbed down from the tree and you weren't there and neither was the freaky flaming girl and I heard a twig snap and-"
"Hello."
I spun around. She must've heard Skyler and walked up without me noticing. Now that I was closer, I could see her features better. She had green eyes, and her red hair made them stand out better. But even though she had big poofy curls of hair cascading down to mid-stomach, she had very small features. Small nose, lips, hands. She wasn't very intimidating without the flames.
"So...who are you, why were you following me, and how come you are staring at me?" her voice came out suprisingly stern, and I realized I was staring at her. Though, she was addressing Skyler.
"I don't have to tell you anything." Skyler said, crossing her arms and looking at her stubbornly. I sighed, shes too stubborn for her own good.
Before the girl started flaming again, I jumped in. "I'm Sasha, and this is Skyler," she looked over to me, startled.
"Where did you come from?!"
I sighed again, I guess the trees had blended me in again. "Sorry the trees hid me because they don't like flame," she looked embarrassed.
"You saw that? Well, I did make my entrance pretty obvious didn't I..." she sounded sheepish, " my name is Ash."
Figures. A girl named Ash who could burn things, and a girl names Skyler who fell from the sky. One who could blow down my forest, and one who could burn it.
Just. My. luck.
