Chapter 1

I'm surrounded by books. I always have been here in the Erudite headquarters. I love to read but lately it's just been too much. I need to get out of here and not always have to sit here studying. I really want to get out and run. Running has always been a secret hobby of mine. I remember when I was about thirteen I outran the whole school in the mile run. When I run I just feel so free like a bird soaring through the sky.

I don't really look like I'm in Erudite. I have super long blonde hair, ice blue eyes and freckles. Most people here have dark brown hair and green eyes. Both of my parents have brown hair and green eyes, so who knows where I get that from. I don't have to wear glasses and almost everyone here has to wear them. My mother says it's because I have blue eyes but I don't know. My mother came from Dauntless and father came from Amity. They met in initiation here at the Erudite Headquarters.

Tomorrow is aptitude test day. I should be nervous but I really want to get out of this place. We had off school today and all I could think about is what could be on the test and what faction I would be put in the next day. My best friend Carrisa wants to be put in Candor. I think she would do good in Candor because she is such a smart mouth. I want to be put in Dauntless and become a police officer. They are so cool how they ride around the city on motorcycles protecting all of us here in Chicago. But on the other hand I want to stay here and become a teacher.

I've wrote in my diary every night since the day I turned nine. So why stop now? I know for sure if I change factions I'll find a way to bring it with me.

Dear diary,
We had off school today because of the aptitude tests tomorrow. I can't wait! I'm nervous but I know I'm going to do my best. Today I read 400 pages of my book I'm reading. I wish I didn't have to write down how many pages I read everyday but mother makes me to help my writing. I have no clue how it helps but oh well.

- Hey guys! I hope that didn't suck too bad. It's my first time writing on wattpad and I still don't have it down pat. So yeahhh.. Comment if you like it or not and what I can do to help it out! I also need girl and boy names for initiates in a few chapters so think of some and please comment!
