Usually it's just my cheeks that heat up in his presence, but now it's my whole body that feels on fire. He makes my heart beat so fast that it can fall out of my chest. When he parts his lips in search of the right words, I melt. His deep voice leaves me frozen, goosebumps racing up my arms. That's when I see it. His eyes turn dark, but they still hold the same amount of passion they always do. He sighs,
"Look me in the eyes and tell me you don't really want this. Tell me the connection we have, that electric spark we feel when we touch, is all just something I made up in my mind. It'll be hard for me, but if you can tell me with one hundred percent honesty that you don't want this, or the lifestyle that comes with it..." My body makes it impossible for me to lie to his face. Deceit is not my strong suit. My most simple desire is to be held in his arms, even if it's for a moment. It just can't happen. We can't happen.
His soft lips slowly twist into his signature smirk, but with an added hint of accomplishment this time. I try to pull away but he wraps his arm around my waist, bringing his other hand to my cheek. I watch his eyes as they inspect the structure of my face. My eyes dart to his lips as the tip of his tongue reaches from out of his mouth and drags across his lower lip. If he didn't have his hand wrapped around me, I'm positive my knees would've given out. That's when I consider it. Maybe a kiss would help me figure out if what I'm feeling is real or not. One kiss won't hurt, right? He chuckles, and I can tell from his light-hearted grin that he knows.
"I can't help but get lost in your beauty, every time I look at you. I lose my train of thought in your eyes. I lose my mind thinking about you," he quietly murmurs. All I know right now is I want him to hold me in his arms. Hold me and make everything right for just a moment. My eyes start to burn. I feel the tears coming. "It's okay," he says, wrapping his arms around me. "I've got you." We sit in silence for a bit. I take a deep breath.
"I'm not afraid to admit that you drive me fucking wild," I say. Toby looks at me and then grazes his lips over my neck up to my earlobe. I shudder before letting my head subconsciously fall back with a relaxed sigh. He places a soft kiss on my earlobe as he whispers in a deep tone that sends an explosive tingle to my core,
"I know baby girl, I know," he remarks. "But just for now, ignore the world and give in to how you feel, what you want... just once." I swallow hard trying to remove the lump in my throat. I speak quietly, hoping my voice doesn't crack,
"Then what are we waiting for?" I ask. The hypnotizing, devilish smirk on his lips grows. I analyze his ice blue eyes. They're glossed over, filled with need and want. As I watch as his lips twist into a smirk, my knees immediately weaken. All sense has left my now dizzy head.
"If we're being serious, I can't see you hurting. Each tear that falls from your eyes breaks my heart," he says, sadness dripping from his voice. I let a tear trickle down my cheek. He reaches his hand to my cheek and wipes away a leftover tear with his thumb. "So let's be together, Hannah."
That was the last nail in the coffin.
