chapter ten- dares and arrival

"did they catch that jerk?" chan asked, rubbing his hand over the makae's shoulder tenderly. "yeah, they did. apparently he got sent to juvie a couple of weeks later for something else really bad."jeongin smiled gladly at him, eyes relieved and calm. "ah, that's a relief. i've got one less person to kill." the austrailian joked, prompting a snigger from jeongin and an exhasperated sigh from his other soulmate. "chan, you do know that would make you a murderer..."

the aussie smiled sheepishly at this, even though he was aware anyway. "anyway, i was going to ask you guys something!" seungmin cheerfully exclaimed, a bright smile spread across his face. the boys turned to him, attention on the puppy boy. knowing this, he continued "i was talking to woojin hyung earlier, and we were wondering if you all wanted to sleep over tonight?"

hyunjin checked his phone, ensuring that there wasn't anything going on for him, whilst jeongin called his parents to ask for permission. turns out, everyone was free! "looks like we've got food to sort out later." jisung commented, and chan's eyes seemed to sparkle with joy for a second. "mer food or...?" minho asked, looking at the mermen of the group for confirmation. "whatever you feel like.  we're all stocked up on human food too." changbin answered, with a shrug.

time seemed to fly, the boys talked for hours about practically anything. felix was quizzing changbin on merfolk things again, minho and jisung were flirting aggressively, chan, woojin and jeongin were talking about a coincidentally themed school project and hyunjin was smothering a fanboying seungmin in affection (not that he minded). slowly but surely, the sun  began to set and warm light began to sink into the horizon. they packed up their things and moved it into the house.

hyunjin couldn't help but think the kim brothers set up beds for people a lot. they'd somehow managed to turn one of the living rooms into a pit of blankets, pillows and mattresses, big enough for the entire group and more. though, despite the comfortable atmosphere, and the slight smell of pizza (chan was collecting it from the delivery man), the boy had a gut feeling that something was off.

he snapped out of his thoughts at the sound of cardboard rustling and the waft of fresh pizza. the drama queen, scrambled to grab a slice, and was successfully in his mission. it only took 20 minutes before all of it was gone, and woojin had fetched a bowl full of underwater cherries, and a container of melted chocolate to dip them in, as well as a few marshmallows.

"you guys wanna play truth or dare?" jisung burst out, a smirk present on his face. "i feel like we don't have a choice." hyunjin sighed heavily, and nodded. the rest of the group (except jeongin and minho) reluctantly agreed to the game. "well, i'll start! woojin hyung, truth or dare?" jisung happily asked the eldest. "uh...truth...?" he responded, seeming unsure about his answer. "do you prefer chan hyung and jeongin to your brother?" woojin's eyes widened, and he noticed his younger brother staring into his soul. "agh, why such a question?! i love them all equally, just in different ways..." he concluded, clearly a little stressed. "oh, the answer that doesn't hurt anyone's feelings! anyway, it's your turn hyung." jisung sarcastically added, before giggling and turning to him with a little smile on his face.

"mmm..." the bear thought for a second before turning to minho with a smirk. "minho, truth or dare?" "pfft, i'm no pussy! dare, throw it at me!" the cat lover was bizarrely confident about this. "i dare you to ask jisung out here and now." that confidence quickly turned into disbelief. with a deep breath, minho turned to the eldest and asked said one word. "hyung?"
he turned to the other and asked "yeah, what is it?"

"fuck you." the younger bluntly stated, prompting an outburst of laughter from the youngest 5 of the group, and sniggers from the rest. minho turned back to his soulmate, who wasn't paying attention to him due to the laughter. "hey, sungie?" this caught the squirrel's attention and he turned to the elder. "yeeeessss?" he was obviously enjoying this situation, drawing out his response. "would you and your squirrel cheeks like to be the idiot that has to put up with me?" holding in a laugh, he answered, leaning into the other "i would love to be."

"right that's over and done with...felix. truth or dare?" the elder asked the aussie. "dare, definitely!" excited about what was to come. "hop one legged around the room 3 times, while screaming bohemian rhapsody." without hesitation, felix got up and started hopping around the room. a second later he began unintelligibly screaming what the others assumed to be the lyrics to bohemian rhapsody.

a few turns later, the group were all exhausted. the humans of the group fell asleep within 10 minutes, but the kim brothers seemed wary. changbin, half asleep, asked "you guys ok? are the wards down or something?"

"i've got a weird feeling that the wards-"

crash!

"aren't going to do anything! jisung, get them to the safe room, now!" woojin yelled at the now fully awake boy, who stumbled to his feet and started to wake the group up as fast as he could.

"what's going on...?" chan sleepily asked jisung, who replied in a scared tone "they found us."
that statement shook the aussie alert, and he worriedly asked "wait, where are changbin, seungmin and woojin hyung?!" he tried to turn back around to find them, but was harshly grabbed by the merman. "they're sorting it, don't worry." eyes now wide with fear chan shouted "how can i not?! they're defenceless!" jisung chuckled to himself a little.

"hyung, they're all highly trained fighters."

tada! another chapter done and dusted. sorry for the huge wait in between chapters, i didn't really have any idea where to go with this one 😅.
