Detective Story

Part three

She was greeted by an unpleasant scene. There were dead bodies everywhere, like a mass shooting happened here. An officer, Robert Blake, was still alive, rolling around on the floor in extreme pain. Lisa ran over to him and crouched next to him. He had been shot in the gut, and didn't have long left. He said, "Detective Scott did this. I shot him in the leg, so he couldn't have gotten far..." She took his gun and called for an ambulance. She started following the blood trail.
She eventually caught up. She found him, lying in the middle of a park. Lisa ran up to him and kicked him to get his attention. The detective laughed and Lisa kicked him again, except a lot harder this time.
"Why‽ What was the point of murdering that family? Why lie to me this whole tim-"
Lisa got shot from behind. She collapsed on the ground and Detective Scott laughed at her.
"I didn't do it alone. I had help, and you'll never be able to tell anyone about it."
Lisa was on the floor, screaming in pain. Detective Scott stood up, wincing in pain because of his leg, and aimed his gun at her head.
"You'll never catch us."
As he was about shoot her, there were two loud gunshots, and Detective Scott and his accomplice collapsed, dead.
She saw Robert Blake behind her, holding a gun at the two killers. The world then went black.

She woke in hospital. She got a fright at first, but then remembered that she'd been shot.
Robert Blake came in.
"How are you feeling?" said Robert, rather cheerily considering what just happened.
"I've been better. Thank you... for saving my life back there."
"It was my pleasure. He deserved it."

They then just had a chat, and once they recovered and had a break from working, they returned. Lisa's new partner was Robert and, surely enough, there was another case to be solved. Robert and Lisa got in the car, and drove off to the witness.
