Finding Home

I ran and ran until I couldn't breath, my legs were numb and I needed a place to rest. I searched for a bit, by now I was far into the woods and I couldn't see the lights of my town.  I decided that I was in the clear. For now at least.
I found a spot and payed down. It was cold, but it was better than being in jail, I thought to myself.
I woke up shivering, I was wet with the morning mildew that came everyday. I quickly got up and realized just how sore and stiff my legs are. I felt groggy and couldn't see straight. It must have been the product of all that running I did last night.
I took a few steps and realized just how hard this was going to be. My legs were sore, my back hurt, I was carrying a heavy load, and I had a ways to go.
What was I even going to do? Where was I going to go?
I had no idea. I just needed to keep on going.

I walked for what seemed hours until I saw the sun start to go down. I found a spot to sleep, and settled down.
This cycle repeated several times until....
My food ran out.
I hadn't thought this far ahead. I had no idea what to do. I could try to find some berries, but who knows if they were poisonous or not.
Panicked, I looked for hours...nothing.
I searched and searched until... nothing. I found nothing.
I couldn't go on like this. I would starve to death. A slow, painful death.... I shivered at the thought of it.
After that night, I vowed I would never go hungry again.

The next day I searched some more. But this time was different from the last. I actually found something. A strange fruit I had never seen before. It was oddly smooth and looked sort of like an apple, but the weirdest thing about it, was that is seemed to glow. I had no time to question, I needed to eat.
Looking back, I should have walked away from that fruit as soon as I saw it. But maybe it happened for a reason.
I grabbed the fruit in pure gluttony.
I ate and ate until I couldn't move. It was a stupid decision really, but in the spur of the moment, it seemed like the right thing to do.
After stuffing myself with the still unknown fruit, I began to fall into that sweet sleep that only comes after you eat an unbelievable amount of food.
I woke up a day later, or at least I think it was a day. Now that I didn't have responsibilities, the days seemed to meld together.
I looked around. Maybe it hadn't been a day. But rather, days. There were birds on me. Crows I think. They seemed to be asking themselves. "Is she dead yet?"
But why would I be dead. I tried to get up but I couldn't. Why can't I get up? I was scared. What has happened? Then, I dawned on me. The fruits.
