CHAPTER ONE

JULIE'S POV

"Wait what?!" I exclaimed after Dad told me about transferring schools.

"You never make any friends there, why do you still want to stay in that all-girls school?" Dad stated.

"I DO make friends!" Opposing what Dad said, he gave me a listen-to-me look, "You're transferring the next school day, Julie Rayne."

Dad certainly has a point. I wouldn't call those people "friends". If they don't care about me, well, back to them!
Apparently, I'm transferring in the most prestigious high school in town, Winkler Hill Academy. Everyone talks about this school. Only rich, smart, and talented kids can attend there. Our family's financially ultra-capable and being academic plus being extracurricular-ish runs in our blood, you could say I'm pretty lucky to be borne from this family. I don't have a problem with that, I'm worried about my social reputation. My "friends" would think that I transferred because I couldn't catch up with them. It's a shame that I would be the one to adjust. The only alibi I could use is that, it's nearer. Walking distance compared to that all-girls school where my "friends" live nearby, 30 minutes without traffic. It's not my fault that I live in a castle-like mansion in an exclusive subdivision with almost no neighbors!

Anyway, I still need to finish my blog post before sleeping. Great timing 'cause I'm blogging about all-girls schools to a no-gender affliated ones. I attended one before. But I got super ticked off by the boys in my class that I threw chalkdust right in their faces. Of course, I got into trouble and was sent to the guidance office so my mom decided to transfer me to an all-girls school.

*RIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNGGG*

8:00 AM. It was my alarm clock. I really need to stop my habit of drifting off to sleep unconsciously.

"Good morning, Milady." one of our maids greeted me. "You missed a phone call from Miss Grace. She told me to make sure to let you know she called."
"Okay, thank you."

Great. They probably already knew that I was going to transfer. Too bad I have no intention of talking to them anymore.
Dad is currently at work and Mom is having her morning exercise routine. I'm pretty impressed that Mom can keep up with it daily. Her exercise routine results are amazing, it makes me wonder why I don't have any siblings yet. But I know, that's because Dad's always busy with work.

After having my breakfast, I took a little online tour about my new school. It's twice as large as my previous school and that would be another thing to take care of. The uniform looks really cool, their cafeteria have lots of varieties, and they hold at least one special event every month which is very interesting.

"What do you think?" Mom came up to me and asked.

"You already look gorgeous so there's nothing to worry about." I tried to compliment her. "Why, thank you Miss Palren, but I'm talking about your new school!" she told me.

"So far, so good. Let's just see how long would I stay in a school that contains boys."

~

Today's my first day. Dad dropped me off. I feel so different, much different than a transfer student normally would. I was told at the Admission's office where my class would be and they gave me a map, forsake this school's big! I didn't have the guts to ask so I walked around looking.

*RIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNGGG*

I suddenly felt nostalgic. Isn't that my ala- oh, the school bell...the school bell?! I ran as I realized that the bell had already rung.

"OW!" Gosh, I bumped into someone.

"Ah, sorry! Sorry Miss! It was my fault. I wasn't looking at my way." this boy, maybe around my age, said. "Gotta go, I'm late for my class!", he hurriedly walked away...without helping me fix my things I dropped because he accidentally ran into me or I did but he said sorry and admitted that it was his fault even though I know that I also wasn't looking buuuut he should be a gentleman and at least help me!! What a waste of looks just when I thought he's...

"Ms. Palren?" My rampage got suddenly interrupted by a teacher.

"Yes?"

"I'm Ms. Lizza Hanon, I'm in charge of the class you're going to attend."

I'm saved!
I thought as she said.

We finally arrived at the room. I wouldn't dare look at my new classmates, too creepy.
"Listen class! We have a new student."
It was my cue to speak.

"Julie Rayne Palren. Please call me Julie. Turning 16. I'm from Dotshell All-Girls." that's what all I was gonna say, the rest would be up to them.

I was just instructed to my seat when a guy who sits next to me spoke.

"Hey! You're the girl from this morning! My name's Theo. Theo Venza."

I ignored him pretending not to hear anything, still annoyed about this morning, even though he's pretty sure I did. He got called by Ms. Hanon to read a paragraph on the book.

~

Class dismissed. Girls and boys were gathering around me asking where I live, reason why I transferred, my favorite food, my phone number, and even my favorite brand of clothing. I simply tried to slip past them. Then Theo approached me.

"Hey Julie, lemme take you a tour in the school!" he cheerfully said. "Umm. Okay?" I mean, how could I decline a person who care-freely talks to me when we just knew each other's names a few hours ago?!

We stepped outside the room and started his "tour".
This is where my new ego begins.
