chapter 1- the orphanage

Lily's point of view

It was 8am in the morning when Miss Bristle came in clanging the pans together making an awful racket "get up you retched children it's time for breakfast!", I let out a whine covering my ears only to be yanked by the foot out my bed with a thud "owie" I exclaim rubbing my head tears threatening to leak, "oh stop whining brat and get up", I huff getting up I walk downstairs groggily to the kitchen just as Miss Honey was dishing up porridge , I like Miss Honey she was very sweet to us and would sometimes sneak us snack in the night.

"Good morning Miss Honey" I say happily, she looks up and smiles warmly at me "good morning Lily you hungry?" She says, I nod my head and she passes me a bowl of porridge, I wasn't keen on porridge but whenever Miss Honey could she would sprinkle some sugar on our porridge to make it taste better, just as I was in the middle of eating the other girls, twins Milly and Molly, Lucy, Lola and Ava came down mumbling tiredly their good morning before they plonked onto the chairs and began to eat.

I quickly finish my porridge and rush upstairs to have a quick shower and get dressed, I go to my small wardrobe which had barely anything in and pick out my white long sleeved shirt and my slightly ripped overalls I then grab my little bow from the table putting it aside while I brush my long brunette hair putting it into pigtails before putting my little bow on I giggle and put on my small white yet dirty dolly shoes and skip downstairs to the living room standing by the wall where the other girls were.

"Right you little brats we have a special guest coming over today to pick out one of you retched girls so you better be on your best behaviour or else no food for a week and you will sleep in the cupboard under the stairs with the spiders and rats understood" Miss Bristle exclaims, "yes Miss Bristle" we all say in unison, "now scram" we all run off to get on with cleaning the house whilst Miss Bristle did her usual smoking and watching TV.

A few hours later and the whole house looking spanking clean a knock on the door is heard making Miss Bristle rush to the door and open it putting on a polite mask "good morning Mister Huntsman please do come in", I look up when a young handsome man in a suit walks in looking around I catch his eye and he raises an eyebrow wondering why I'm on my hand and knees cleaning the floor, "oh don't worry about lily it's cleaning day so the girls tend to help round the house" Miss Bristle said to the man, the man nods and walks into the living room , Miss Bristle turns to me "you brat tea now!" She says quietly so the man doesn't hear , I nod and go to the kitchen to make tea.

After finishing making tea I put it on a tray then get a few biscuits for the man before walking to the living room, the tray was a bit heavy which made my hands shake slightly whilst not looking where I was going I trip over a wire and the tea spills all over the man's suit, "you stupid girl now look what you down you have ruined mister Huntsman suit you bad girl say sorry now!" Miss Bristle snaps, tears form in my eyes and I begins to cry rubbing my eyes "I... I sowwy" I say, I then feel strong arms lift me up and rock me, I slowly calm down and glance at the person who picked me up only to see Mister Huntsman I sniffle slightly, Mister Huntsman hands me a handkerchief and I wipe my eyes and blow my nose, "there there little one it's okay it was only an accident" I hear him coo, I lay my head on his shoulder calming my breathing down.

After I had fully calm down Mister Huntsman gently puts me back down and helps me clean up he then pat's my head and gives me a warm smile before I walk out the door shutting it but listen in on the conversation, "I'm so sorry about that Mister Huntsman Lily can be very clumsy at times especially whens she's in her own little world" I hear Miss Bristle say, I carry on listening to the conversation but what I hear next shocks me "I'd like to adopt the young child that spilt tea on me she seems like a lovely young girl" Mister Huntsman says, "are you sure you want to adopt lily she can be quite a handful especially with her autism surely you would like to meet the other girls" Miss Bristle says hoping he would change his mind, "no no I would like Lily and thats final now where are the papers" I hear him say sternly, I then hear footsteps and rush to make it seem like i was playing with the other girls.

Mister Huntsman and Miss Bristle soon come out the room, whilst Mister Huntsman wasn't looking Miss Bristle gave me a hateful glare making be gulp before she leads him to her office to sort out paperwork, "your so lucky" the twins say, I glance up tilting my head curiously "what you mean?", The twins look at me as if I have 2 heads "do you seriously not know who that is?" They ask, I shake my head, "that's the most richest bachelor in America Christian Huntsman" they explain, my eyebrows begin to knot together making the girls facepalm before they grab a magazine and show me a article, I glance at the the picture and try to read the best I can but failing as I was never taught to read.

I suddenly feel Mister Huntsman pick me up and begin to walk out the building "but my belongings I can't leave Lulu!" I exclaim squirming, Lulu was my pink teddy that my mother gave me before she passed away she was very precious to me, "my butlers have gone to your room and collected all your belongings don't you worry little one" he replies softly before sitting me in the big car and strapping me in, I huff folding my arms I lean my head on the window looking outside as we begin to move my eyes droop as I slowly fall asleep.
