I dreamt of a kingdom where
I'll rule with you by my side,
We'd build our home across the hill side,
Where we'd have a view of the sea's tide.
Although you went away,
This affection I harboured overtime
Never died,
All I could do was to think about you
All the time.Though the distance drifted us apart,
And drifted also the love we shared:
Yet, I still love you,
This feeling is like the first time I set my eyes on you,
I cannot endure this life without you.Tell me,
I will do anything possible to rekindle our love,
For, your rejection is slowly shattering me
Into pieces ready to be devoured by the wind.
Only you can salvage what is left of me,
Don't let go of me, please...Why should I not let you go?
I tried to let you know,
I tried to make you see,
When the gulf between us began to grow,
When it became larger than the dead sea.
Your affection never died,
But I can't boast the same for mine...What we shared was like the evening sky,
T'was beautiful at first, but in a while
Came the starless night,
For a spark, I sat beside the hearth each day,
That love be rekindled to have its way
But each time I lit the match,
The wood is either too wet,
Or the flames wouldn't catch. So, please don't think I beguiled you,
Don't think I brought you to love's climax,
Only to let you slide all by yourself,
It's just that I plateaued too soon,
I crossed the finish line too early,
Blindfolded by Cupid's bow
I'd also crossed his tiny line,
Darkened clouds thus covering our brightened sky.Indeed, I loved you, but once,
It was always fleeting like banging fireworks,
Just as water surges through the pipes,
It surged through my veins at first,
But now, it's a pity that it's all gone
And I don't know how to tell you,
I'm sorry, I don't love you anymore...© AnastasiaOfori2 & euphoriawrites
