As Marie and my mother approached my bedside, Marie reached for my hand. The warmth of her touch against my cold body was incredible. She sat down in the chair next to me, still holding my hand. "Hey cupcake how you doing?" She asked. She hasnt called me that in years. It's a nickname she gave me when we were kids because I used to always eat cupcakes.
"I'll give you two some privacy." My mom said tapping my dads shoulder.
It was so comforting to have Marie by my side. I wouldn't trade her for the world, she has been with me through thick and thin, she is my sister, my partner in crime and I love her. I mean I'm not in love with her that would be kinda weird but I do love her.
"Cupcake , you look like shit." Marie said with a slight chuckle.
"God this is so hard for me , I cant imagine how you feel right now. Im really sorry about Charlie , I know how much he meant to you. I know that it will be hard for you to live knowing that he wont be there along for the ride, but If you do decide to leave us I will understand, and I dont want you to stay just because you don't want to hurt us. I love you so much and it would be hard for me, but I would rather let you go and be happy than keep you here and you not be happy. Basically I just want you to know its ok to let go." She said now sobbing into my shoulder.
It meant so much to me that she took how I felt into consideration, I mean I know that everyone cares but no one has thought about how I feel or what I want. I didn't want to leave but how could I stay? My boyfriend is dead and I'm alive, I cant go on knowing that I wont be able to enjoy my life without Charlie. I appreciate Marie for recognizing that.
I remember when I first met Charlie. It was about the second week of high school, I was such an awkward kid. I dont know what Charlie seen in me. Marie and I were sitting at the lunch table with our "Clique" I guess you could say, which I guess wasnt really much of a clique because it only included me and her. I had been eyeing him since the third grade. He had this Superman lunch box, that I loved so much only because Superman is my all time favorite super hero.
Well anyways back to the lunch table. I seen him walk into the lunch room. He was dressed in blue denim skinny jeans, wore a black leather jacket and black Doc Martins. As he started across the lunch room he looked kind of lost, like he didnt have anywhere to sit. I kind of wanted him to sit with me but I never thought that would happen.
"You should just take a picture it'll last longer." Marie teased
"Oh my gosh, was I staring?" I asked suprised
"Like there was no tomorrow." Marie said laughing
"I hope he didnt notice." I said blushing
"I think it's a little late for that." Marie said pointing towards his direction
"W-what, is he coming over here." I asked Marie. She nodded indicating that he was.
"Oh gosh does my hair look alright?" I asked now panicking
"You look great." Marie said smiling
"Hey Laura is anyone sitting here?" Charlie asked as he approached me
I cant believe he knows my name, I didnt even know he knew I existed I thought. I never thought I would live to see a day when Charlie Hunnam spoke to me.
"Are you talking to me?" I asked looking around
"Your name is Laura right?" He asked
"Y-yeah." I said nervously
"Then yes I am. Is this seat taken." He asked pointing to the empty chair next to me
"N-no go ahead." I said hesitantly
When he sat down, I got butterflies all throughout my body. I had never been so close to him ever in my life. He is actually very attractive up close it thought.
"So how are you liking high school so far?" He asked breaking the silence
"Oh uh it's nice, and you?" I asked trying to be calm
"Yeah it's pretty sweet, except the food?" He said examining his plate
"Yeah the food is pretty awful." I said. We botb laughed.
Everyday after this we all spent lunch together. Charlie, Marie, and I became the best of friends. Some called us the Three Stooges. I had really fallen for Charlie at this point. He was so sweet and caring, and wasn't like any other boy I had ever met. He was actually about something, and I liked that. I would probably miss that the most about him.
I had never been this sad over anything in my life. I didn't really understand why this happened to me. Out of all the other millions and trillions of Charlie's they had to take mine. I guess I will never fully grasp this whole death thing.
