Chapter 3: Noel's Secret Crush

    When school was over I gathered up my stuff and walked quickly out the door. I got home a couple minutes before Serena, as usual. I went straight to my room to take a shower before I go out to hang with my friends at our usual spot. Noel? Is that you?” my mother asked. “Yah mom!” I replied. When I finished taking a shower I couldn’t get Scott out of my head. So I walked back downstairs and straight out the front door. Before I could open the door Serena walked in and went straight to her room without a word to me or our mother and father, which is rather unusual for her because she usually says hi to us when she gets home. “Bye mom! I’m leaving!” I yelled as I walked out the door. “Ok honey have fun with your friends!” she yelled back. When I got to the café I saw my friends Jane, Emily, and Victoria sitting in our usual spot. I walked over to them and sat down next to Victoria. “Hey guys.” I said as I put my head down on the table. “What’s wrong with you today Noel?” Jane asked. “I just can’t stop thinking about someone, that’s all.” I answered. “You’re blushing.” Emily said. I looked at her with wide eyes. Emily, Jane, and Victoria laughed in unison. “You like someone. Don’t you?” Victoria said. Was it that obvious? “No I don’t.” I said. “Yes you do.” they said together, and burst out laughing. “Who is the boy you like?” Emily asked. I sighed, “His name is Scott.” Emily, Jane, and Victoria looked at each other. “What?” I asked. “You like him. Don’t you?” Victoria asked. “No I don’t.” I snapped.
    After what happened today at the café, I never wanted to see my friends again. Just when I thought today couldn’t possibly get any worse I bumped into Darien. “Whoa! Where’s the fire?” He said in a teasing way. “Not now Darien. I’m not in the mood.” I said with a mad look on my face, but what I didn’t know was that I was blushing. “Where’s the meatball head?” he asked, “She’s back home.” I said to him. Then I just walked past him and went straight home.
