I was running. I did not dare to look from who, but I knew I did not want to. I was slowly losing my breath; legs numb from the distance. There was a light I was following, hoping for it to get closer but to no avail. It had seemed so close when I started but now it was a hopeless dream I could never reach.
Creeping up fast was whatever was behind me. This unnatural presence. So close. I could feel its fingertips right there...

I woke up in a sweat. The same dream with the same outcome. I was mentally exhausted from this recurring nightmare. I looked at my alarm clock for it to read the witching hour of 3:00 a.m. I was getting annoyed with this. For the past few weeks, I had not been able to sleep due to this problem, and I thought it was about time for me to get control of my mind once more.

Picking up me phone, I unlocked it and dialed the one person I knew could help.

'Hello?'

"Hey Tiana, it's Margaret. I know it's late and I'm so sorry but is there any way you could give me the contact information for Mama Odie?"

'Contact information? That woman is a fossil, she doesn't have contact information. I will call you back in the morning and take you to her. Sound good?'

"As good as it can get. Thanks, hun, I'll talk to you later."

'Mmhmm.'

As I ended the call, I felt a little more at ease with going back to bed. I hoped for a dark slumber as my eyes began to fall heavy.

My alarm was yelling at me and so I hit it. 'That should shut it up,' I had thought to myself mentally, but with little luck, it was still screaming.

"Whyyyyy!"

Frustrated, I sat up and properly turned it off. Nine-thirty. What a drag. It was thankfully Saturday, so no work for me, but I decided it was only better for me if I continued with my daily schedule. At least I had hope there would be some normalcy to my life before I visited Mama Odie.

I got up to do my morning stretches — good for the soul and drank my morning glass of water. After doing all the toiletry matters, I was presented with what I was to wear to the momentous occasion. I had no desire to dress revealing, but it was hot outside so the less the better.

Finally concluding, I thought about whether I wanted to spend the time doing my makeup and waiting for Tiana to finally call back, or if I wanted to do other things while I waited. Other things it was.
First, I made up my bed, and then it was dusting since it had been a while since that was last done. Onto the living room where I had unwisely finished a whole bottle of wine along with my 1,500-piece puzzle of the place in Italy I had yet to visit.

Finally, it was there. The ominous ding of my cell from my bedroom. Was I prepared for this? No. Would I get through it and hopefully figure out what is wrong with me? Fingers were crossed.
I jogged to the phone to see the wonderful face of Tiana on her wedding night, blacked out into oblivion. I pressed the green answer button.

"Hey hun, how'd you sleep?"

'Hello to you, and like a baby until you woke me up. You ready to see Mama Odie, or do you need me to call you back in a little?'

"Oh hush. Do not make me regret calling you. I've been ready but I was waiting on your call. You don't think we're causing her trouble by just popping up right? You know what, I have decided we don't need to go and that staying in our homes to binge watch some Netflix would be a great opportunity to rela—"
