The Boy Next Door(Hajoon)

Y/n's POV

The boy next door was supposed to be someone handsome and kind... but the guy who lived next to me was nothing but kind...  but what he did have was he was extremely attractive there was no denying that.

I avoided him each time I could because of how uncomfortable things felt when I saw him... and his intense stare was just too much for me and not to mention the snarky remarks each time he saw me.

"I'll be number one next time,l/n"

"If you keep your mouth open bugs are going to go inside it"

"I know you don't come because you wouldn't resist seeing me in my swimming outfit", he stupidly winked.

I hated feeling this way of my academic enemy. Funny thing it was never a competition to me until he made it one back in 7th grade. When he told everyone I was only top of the class because I copied off his tests and homework. I sort of despised him since. But I also started developing feelings for him which I kept trying to ignore.

"The whole neighborhood is going to cheer Hajoon at his competion today and I expect you to show up this time",my mother says to me sternly.

God I forgot how much she adored Lee Hajoon.. I groan and rub my eyes frustrated by my mom... Hajoon wouldn't miss me .. anyway... he doesn't even like me.

I ignore her for now knowing that even if she got upset about me not going, I'd definitely get out of it.

What even made me fall for him if he literally hates my guts!!

Mom: honey, it's fine you don't have to come I'll let Hajoon know you said hi

I smile satisfied and grab my bag and head off to the quick mart to grab a gimbap triangle and a banana milk.

I bump into someone wearing a hoodie and I shrug it off and continue walking until they grab my wrist.

"It's me, Hajoon" My eyes widen and I remove my hand from his hold.

"Dude , you have a competition starting in like thirty minutes what are you doing?"

He rubs his eyes ... he looked frustrated , usually he was giving me a stern look but this time his eyes looked gentle and like something was bothering him, not that I pay attention to him or anything .. okay I kinda do sometimes..because of that stupid thing my heart had been doing lately.. which was flutter when I did see him smiling from afar. Why was he so pretty.. ugh I hate this.

"I couldn't concentrate going to the competition today because I'm sick of this never ending rivalry between us"

I shrug. Why after so many years did this rivalry between us matter?

"Come on, Hajoon we've been at it for years why does it all of a sudden matter.. you hate me right..", He shakes his head. "I could never hate you", which made my insides swarm.

He pulls me close that I can feel his hot breath so close to me and our eyes meet.. and I see a smile form on his face.

"So then what's with all the harsh looks and the remarks if you don't hate me?"

He pressed a gentle kiss on my cheek and pulls me into a hug. "Silly girl, you got it all wrong..I can never muster up the courage to talk to you when I was a kid because of how beautiful you are so I started this whole stupid rivalry , God you make me so nervous"

"Hajoon, the competition you're going to miss-", he cuts me off.

"This is more important than the competition, you're more important, now y/n l/n I don't hate you and I'm sorry for everything I've ever said to you , I like you, I thought it was obvious but I guess I gave you the wrong idea"

Oh Gosh, Lee Hajoon just said he likes me.. and the warm fuzzy feeling inside me is going crazy right now.

He finally pressed his lips against mine catching me off guard.. but despite all the misunderstanding from before I kiss him back.. I had been dreaming for this moment despite everything..We pull away and a loud gasp is heard.

"Lee Hajoon!", Mrs.Lee says to her son."Mom, I'm sorry I missed the competition but I needed to finally tell Y/n how I felt", he explained to his mom.

"They rescheduled because of your absence", his mom said to him.

"Good to see you two finally cozied up to one another", my mom comes into view and she laughs along with Mrs.Lee.

"What is it the kids these days are saying?"

"Who knows but we've been waiting for this day since we both had them",Mrs.Lee says and my mom nods agreeing with her. Hajoon and I laugh.

Hajoon smiles at me... "Will you be my girlfriend?", I nod and he happily pulls me into a hug.
