What Are You Doing?

I still have his things.

Oh, God.

I will have to suffer through self-torture again.

And all of it because I couldn't actually give him his things when he asked for them.

I'm so dumb.

Like, by probabilty some neurons must work in my brain, right?

Right?

Or not.

He must be so annoyed. I'm sure he has a fan group and they will come after me.

They surely want me dead.

Oh, my God. I don't wanna die.

I have my head on my hands as I go through all the ways school girls could kill me.

"Miss Nakamura!"

I jump on my feet and push the chair back making it fall.

"Present!" As I say that, I bump my knee on my table and double over, hitting my head on the desk on my way down.

I'm crouched on the floor, hands over my forehead where I hit myself and I feel the blood creeping up my neck and onto my face. I'm sure everyone is looking at me right now. Including Jude.

I'm sure he must think I'm stupid. He'll be so embarrased to be seen with the girl that managed to hit herself twice in two seconds and when I have to give him his things he will make it awkward.

Wait.

I'm the awkward one.

"M-miss Nakamura... Are you okay?" the teaches asks.

"Tch," I hiss in pain as I get up.

I put my hands down and see that they're slightly stained with red. I think the teacher notices too for she immediately sends me to the infirmary.

Just then a dark haired girl passes through the door in the corridor.

"Miss Hills! Go with her and make sure she doesn't bump into anything else," she says, making the whole class giggle.

"Yes," Celia says, stopping at the door as I get out of the class.

"Does it hurt?" she asks as I hold my hand to where it's supposedly bleeding.

"Kinda."

"You are unlucky," she chuckles.

"Ugh... don't remind me. First not finding a tutor, then the stuff with Jude Sharp, and now this. I just attract all the bad things!"

"What stuff with Jude Sharp?" She asks.

"I accidentally took his bag with his stuff and when he asked for them I just stuttered and I didn't end up giving them back. And now he probably thinks I'm stupid and when I have to give the things back, it'll be so awkward!" I moan.

"Oh, don't worry. My brother won't think that you're stupid. He's just cold so maybe that made you think he'll judge you but nah. He's adorable," she says with a smile.

Adorable?

That would definitely not be the word I would describe him with. Maybe things like intimidating. Handsome. Cool. Superior. Genius. Very good looking.

But definitely not adorable.

Wait.

She said her brother. Her brother?

Her brother.

They're siblings!

What.

"Jude's your brother?" I say, incredulity obvious in my voice.

"Yeah. Our parents died when we were young and different families adopted us, that's why our last names are different," she answers like it's nothing.

"Oh, I'm sorry about that," I say.

"Oh, it's fine! We're now together again so it's okay."

"That's nice," suddenly, an idea pops in my head, "Hey! Could you give Jude his stuff for me? Please!"

She laughs as we enter the infirmary.

"Nope. I'm sorry."

"What? Why?" I exclaim.

The school nurse appears from behind a white curtain separating the beds.

"Oh, hello girls. What happened?" she asks.

"I... had a small... accident," I answer, taking my hand of my forehead.

"Oh, dear. Lets get you cleaned up. Sit on this bed," she gestures.

I do as I'm told and sit. Celia props herself up on the window ledge.

The nurse cleans me up and straps a piece of gauze to my forehead.

"Celia...! Please...! I don't wanna die of embarrasment! Jude must think I'm a joke!"

"Hey, you've been his classmate since he transferred. It's fine. I'm sure he knows you're not this clumsy all the time," she answers.

"You knew I existed?"

"Yeah...? Everybody knows you, hun," she chuckles.

"What? No, that's not true."

"Yeah. The girl that has top grades in everything but doesn't know what's the date. Intelligence and childness combined," she says.

"Oh, God. I'm known because of that? That is embarrassing," I sigh.

"What I was saying. I'm sure my brother knows you aren't stupid, as you said."

"Let's hope so..."

We make our way back to class in a comfortable silence.

After class has finished I stay back and so does Jude.

"Can I have my things back now?" he says.

"Yeah, I'm sorry about before. And about taking your stuff," I say as I grab the bag.

He goes to take the strap but ends up grabbing my hand. He quickly takes it off and I do the same.

"Sorry," he mutters.

"It's fine."

An uncofortable silence falls over the both of us as he grabs his bag and crosses it over his shoulder.

"I'm going to-," he looks at the door and then finishes his sentance," -go now."

Just then Mrs. Get a Tutor Because Your Grades are Shit enters through the door.

"Hey. Miss Nakamura, it seems like you found a tutor outside the list. I'm sure Mr. Sharp will be great help."

"Oh no, he's not-"

"Yes, Mrs. Tanaka, it'll be a pleasure to help," Jude cuts in.

I stare at him with suprise.

What is he doing?

She smiles and closes the door as she leaves.

"What are you doing?" I ask, still confused.

"This will be a great help for my resume. I was actually looking for someone to tutor but people don't see me as the teacher type, you see," he says, scratching his neck.

He looks flustered and vulnerable, but quickly recovers his composure.

"So, I'll be tutoring you from now on. If you don't mind saying, what will it be?"

"Advanced maths," I cough out, embarrassed.

He laughs and I realise how melodic his laugh is.

"Oh, this is going to be good."
