Third person's pov
It has been a week since Aera spoke to Taeyong. She went to the kitchen to have breakfast when she noticed her brother looking gloomy.
"What's wrong with your face?" Aera muttered as she grabbed a piece of bread and smothered jam all over it.
"Well that's a rude ass way to tell me i'm ugly."
"I mean. What wrong with you? You look like a guy who has been rejected by his childhood sweetheart. What's up with that?" Aera said with her mouth full of bread.
"It's about Taeyong." Johnny started as Aera scoffed and raised her hand.
"We do not mention that name in this household. It is the name of the devil. We are catholi-"
"He's leaving today. I just said my goodbyes to him."
Aera fell silent. She didn't look at Johnny, she continued to smother jam on her second piece of bread.
"You know, he's still outside. He's waiting." Johnny mention as she answered almost immedietly "For who?"
Aera, for some reason hoped it was her.
"He's in Chittaphon's living room. He's just waiting for the taxi to arrive and pick him up. He'll go straight to the airport after that."
"So he was serious.." Aera muttered
"What?"
"Nothing." Aera said as she quickly got upstairs. She slammed her door shut. Aera stared at her mirror.
"Should I say goodbye?"
She changed her clothes, fixed her hair, sprayed perfume all over her body, and applied minimum amount of makeup. Just to cover up the fact that she looks half-dead this morning.
Aera stared at herself again and muttered "What the fuck am I doing. You know what? Let shit happen." She hurried downstairs and basically kicked the door open and then ran outside. Aera went straight inside Chittaphon's house and everyone stared at her.
"Aera! What are you doing here?" Chittaphon said as Aera glanced at Taeyong, who was sitting on the couch looking shocked, for a second.
"I-i'm here to have breakfast. I'm sick of Johnny's cooking. Can you give me food?" Aera said as she went straight forward to the kitchen and helped herself with a bowl of cereal. Chittaphon glanced at Taeyong who was looking down, fiddling with his fingers.
"I'll just wait for the taxi outside." Taeyong said as he stood up and grabbed his things.
"Wait!" Aera said as Taeyong's eyes widened. "Um, have you had breakfast already?"
"Uh yeah, you?"
"I'm eating my second breakfast right now."
"That's great. Uh, i'll get going now."
"Uh, okay. Bye."
Chittaphon facepalmed and groaned. "You two are so awkward it literally brings me pain!" He pulled Taeyong to the dining area and forced him to sit infront of Aera. "You two should talk. I'll wait for the taxi outside and i'll call you when it's there."
"But-" Taeyong said as Aera cut him off.
"Thank you Chittaphon." She said as the both of them watched Chittaphon leave the house.
"Look, Aera. I'm really sorry-"
"It's okay." Aera cut his sentence as he looked at her with wide eyes. "I'm sorry."
"W-what?"
"I said i'm sorry." Aera sighed "Chittaphon told me that you always hated the idea of leaving Korea.. that you got kicked out of your house just because of rejecting your aunt's offer. And because of me, you're forced to swallow your pride and do the thing you've always hated."
"No, i'm doing this for me. I'm doing this for the better. I've done nothing good here, i've always been a scumbag here. If I move to Canada, where no one knows my name. I could start a new life. I could choose a better path. I could be a better version of myself. I'm not only doing this for you.. but also for me." Taeyong said as he held Aera's hands.
"I'm really happy that you came here to talk to me before I leave. You don't know how much joy you've brought me in less than five minutes. I'm thankful that I get to see your face before I leave." He smiled as Aera's heart sank.
"You don't have to do this." Aera said as Taeyong frowned.
"What do you mean?"
"You don't have to leave.. you can stay here in Korea.." Aera stuttered as tears formed in her eyes.
"Aera-"
"Am I too late?" She looked Taeyong in the eye. "Is it too late to say these things?"
"Aera, I don't understand. Say what?"
"That i'm such a dumbass because up until now, after all that happend, I still like you. I still do! Is it too late to say those? Am I too late-"
"I like you too, Aera."
"Please don't leave. Don't leave me. I shouldn't have pushed you to leave. It's my fault you're leaving." She started to sob as Taeyong stood up and immedietly hugged her.
"Aera.. i'm sorry.. my flight is in two hours and everything is settled in Canada. I even passed a reservation form at a university there."
"I'm sorry Taeyong. I still like you. I really still do like you."
"And I like you too Aera. I like you a lot. I like you so much I could combust." He chuckled as he wiped her tears with his thumb. "Can you wait for me?"
"What?"
"Once I finish studying there, I know it'll take a few years, but once I graduate, i'll get back to you if I still can. Can you wait for me?"
"I will. I'll wait for you. I really will wait for you. So you should study well and not fail any classes so that you could graduate on time and get back to me! Once you get back her i'll be welcoming you with open arms." Aera said as Taeyong smiled. He moved her bangs and kissed her forehead softly.
"Thank you." Taeyong smiled "You don't know how much this means to me."
The door opened and Chittaphon's head peeked inside.
"Lee Taeyong! Get your ass outside the taxi's already here!" Chittaphon said as he glanced at the two hugging, his eyes widened as he looked away "Oh- I uh, are y'all done?"
"Just five more minutes." Taeyong said as he hugged Aera tighter
"Yeah okay i'll just tip the driver. I gotchu guys." He said as he closed the door again.
Aera smiled as she placed her head on Taeyong's chest.
"I'll be waiting for you."
"And i'll return. I promise you that."
