Chapter 5
Scarlett’s POV
I woke up to my ‘mother and father’ yelling at me to wake up in the middle of the night. Just by looking at them I could tell they have been up all night drinking and that they were pissed at me again for no reason. I knew this wouldn’t end well especially cause Phoenix isn’t home to protect me, but I suppose it’s time for me to stand up for myself. I sat up in my bed and asked “whats wrong”
“ Don’t speak when I don't ask you to!” my ‘mom’ yelled
“I think I have a damn right to freaking speak! Especially when you guys come in here yelling at me to wake up flipping drunk!” I yelled back
“Do not talk back to your mother you good for nothing brat!”
“Well its the truth ‘father!”
“Do you want to freaking get smacked you freaking ungrateful piece of s**t!”
My dad stumbled across the room to come and smack me, but before he could I hide under the bed and I grabbed a heavy object and smashed it on his foot. He started yelping out in pain and stepping backword while my mom stumbled towards him to help him and I quickly got out and ran to my older brothers room and locked the door and got my phone out to call him. My ‘parents’ came to the door and started pounding on it while I quickly called my brother. I felt tears slowly slip down my cheeks while I was shaking uncontrollably as I pulled my phone up to my ear while hoping my brother will answer his phone. The phone rang for a few seconds and then went straight to voice mail which made me tremble and cry even more. “You better up this damn door other wise I’ll knock it down and beat your a**!”
I look behind me to the window and darted towards it and opened it and quickly popped out the screen and jumped out and started running as fast as I could not even knowing where I was going. I could feel my heart about to jump out of my chest while running down the dark street. I saw someone walking towards me while looking down at their phone and I stopped to get a better look at who it was. I noticed that it was the girl with the ocean blue eyes. I simply stood there smiling and blushing even though she didn’t notice me yet. I’m scared for her to see me like this, but I need her right now. I run up to her and sighed to myself and say, “what are you doing out so late?”
She looked up and smiled and looked away “I go for night walks to get fresh air and get away from my family. Why are you out so late?”
“O-oh just getting away from my family…” I stated hoping she doesn’t see me crying
She got a concerned look on her face and I thought she must of noticed me crying she asked worried “are you okay, your stuttering and I can tell you crying...what happened?”
“I-I can’t explain right now..as long as I can come home with you I’ll be fine” I said blushing at the thought of being with her all night.
