As Corey drove Briar home he was quiet. Really quiet.
Briar on the other hand was a little scared, who exactly was she with ? He was obviously wrapped up in some sketchy business but was is dangerous to be around him? What exactly was he selling?
They got on Briar's street and he stopped in the same place that Ashlynn picked her up hours before. Briar wasn't ready to get out of the car. She had a hundred thoughts running through her mind. She kept thinking about the hurtful thing Corey said when she first got there and how he made her forget about that with the hours of conversation and how that conflict made her forget about the conversation until now. Was he in trouble ?
"What are you thinking about ?" Corey said shutting the car off.
"Nothing." She said too afraid to make him upset.
"Don't lie to me B." His voice had a tint of irritation.
"I'm just thinking about how tired I'm gonna be in a couple hours when we have school." Briar lied turning to face him.
"What time is it ?" Briar asked now actually curious. Corey looked at his watch and let out a small laugh.
"It's 2:57 in the morning."
Briar was shocked. How long did they stay in that bedroom talking.
"It's crazy how we talked for so long tonight but I still feel like I don't know you." Corey looked at her.
"I know, you're like a mystery man to me." Briar said which wasn't a lie.
" Well I better go." Briar got out of Corey's car and just stood there not shutting the door.
"Corey.."
Corey looked at her curiously.
"How far away do you live from here ?"
" About half- an hour to forty-five minutes why?" He was very confused.
"Well um... this is.... I've never... Corey how about you stay the night and get some sleep. It's already so late. We can set an alarm so you can get up and leave before my parents wake up. I'll just feel really bad if you drive all that way, I should've asked how far away you lived before I accepted your ride home." Briar was shocked that she said everything she did, it was like she couldn't stop her mouth from saying all these stupid things she knew she would regret later.
Corey smiled and got out of his car. They both snuck up to the side of the house and Briar started climbing up the side of the her makeshift rope when they heard footsteps walking towards them in the grass.
"Briar you idiot what are you doing?" Ren whispered trying to hold in his laughter.
Briar got down and slapped him on his arm.
"I'm trying to get into the house idiot what are you doing ?" She whispered back.
" I just got home from a party, why are you even trying to get in the..." Ren noticed Corey and started laughing. "You brought a boy home ? Wait I saw you at the party." He pointed at Corey.
"Briar you snuck out to the party too anddd brought a boy home, oh this is hilarious."
"Ren I need to get inside the house and if you can't help me I'd really appreciate it if you would leave." Briar said frustrated.
"I've got a key." Ren said holding up a key with a devilish grin.
"I'll let you both follow me in but Briar if your boy-toy gets us caught I'll tell mom and dad you were at a party."
