Chapter Five
Aaliyah's P.O.V.
"Is this a good idea Jules?" I asked for the eighth time. "Calm down Aaliz. Like you said, you are just collaborating with someone." Juliet tried to calm me. " What if he thinks my music is average and not worth his time?" I bit my lip.
"Honestly, Aaliyah. You make some of the best music I've EVER heard. Are you forgetting our hideout parties? Everyone literally worships you, that's how sick your beats are. And you are a princess for God's sake. A princess. As in you are the future leader of a huge-ass region. Why is one boy doing this to you? Are you sure this is just a collab? It sounds like something more." Replied Juliet suggestively. I though about what she just said.
Why is one boy doing this? Sure, I have bare minimum experience in this department but still, we are just working together. And I am Aaliyah-freaking-Rajput, princess of Udaipur. No one can do this to me. I won't allow it.
"You're right Jules. Its just a boy. Just a collaboration. Nothing more. And this collab will be a damn good one." I said, with newfound confidence. "Thats more like the Aaliyah I know and love. Now get going before I have to give you the pep talk again." My best friend replied jokingly.
"Yeah. Gosh! Its already 9:50. Bye. See you later, love." I waved and got going.
Breaking curfew is something I shouldn't be doing, but it is something I've been doing since our music studio was made. There are only so many hours in a day and I often don't get time for my music. So I sneak out almost every third day to enter my zone.
Our main building is not very huge but one can easily get lost in the old Victorian castle with all its turns and unoccupied rooms. Our dorm building is present on the grounds and teachers and staff live even further outside, so sneaking out is pretty easy, but we need to look out for the keeper, Mr. Stone. He's a bit like Mr. Finch from Harry Potter, creepy and weird, and perfectly justifies his name- Stone. Because number one, he has no feelings and number two, he is (most probably) stoned the whole time.
So yeah, not much of a problem, but a problem nonetheless. Anyways, the way from our building to the studio is pretty long and I reached there in about 15 minutes.

I cautiously entered the studio only to find Dylan waiting for me while listening to my- our song. He looked so peaceful, lost in the music as if he has no care in the world. And now that I looked at him properly, I wondered why I had been avoiding him for the past few years. I could look at him all- That's not why you're here.
My footsteps broke him out of his dream and he turned around and spotted me. "Took our time, didn't we princess?" Asked Dylan in his amazingly soothing yet sarcastic voice.
He has this voice which is just right- masculine but not baritone, slightly raspy but not itchy. Just the perfect voice. You're here for working, not fantasizing. "I am 5 minutes late, not 50. Not a big deal you know, Riches." I replied.
"Riches? You could have come up with something more unique, you know." He say, a smirk beginning to form on his perfectly sculpted face. Aaliyah, stop. What is wrong with you? Remember that pep talk. Its just a guy.
"Because 'princess' is so original and unique, yeah?" I replied, raising an eyebrow. Thats more like it.
"Touche. You're really something, aren't you?" Dylan said with a hint of curiosity. "Well, thats for me to know and you to find out. I hope you've warmed up. We can't be here all night. The song is called Hymn For-" I started off but got cut by this amazing specimen.
"I know the song, princess. I was obsessed with it when it came out. And yes, I've already warmed up, not that I needed to. And I wouldn't mind spending the night here." He said with a wink.
Looks like no work is being done anytime soon. Not that I mind. Yes you do mind. Get to work. "Are you done? Can we start now?" I asked, rolling my eyes. "Your wish is my command princess." Dylan said with a sweeping bow, and we finally started working on our song.

To say that it was easy would be a lie, and to say that the song is amazing would be an understatement.
Sure, there were moments when both of us wanted to give up, partly because this was new for both of us and partly because it was 2 in the morning. But I never expected the song to turn out this good.
Dylan has a superb voice, one I've never come across before and one I hope to not lose. Besides, he is actually fun when he is in his comfort zone and not being jerk.
Lets just say that we made through the night by entertaining each other through tricks we could do on our platforms. Somewhere, we also got along dissing and mocking the rich lifestyle.
Turns out, there are more things common in us- our hate for riches and our family's disapproval of our music.
Dylan also persuaded me to start our channel and upload the songs on YouTube. I resisted but when he convinced me that our identites would remain hidden and made a puppy face, never have I seen a puppy face cuter than his, I had to give in.
So now, we have a channel called BassicBeats on YouTube. The name sucks (and has a pun) but come on, you're not very innovative when you're half asleep.
Now its 3 in the morning and I'm laying awake in my bed, thinking about a guy I shouldn't be thinking about. I have never though I'd feel this way about a guy, especially him. You're just infatuated after a long time. Its just a phase, just like the one when you wanted a tattoo of SpongeBob. It'll pass.
But what if I don't want to pass? This is sleep talking. You're tired. You know the consequences of getting involved with a guy. Your family will lock you in a room till you get married to some prince who will- Slow down, brain. Maybe I'm too afraid. Maybe I need to listen to my heart now. Maybe I need to rebel. Just a little bit.
