What happened?

Charlie passes out while hugging Kitchen. Kitchen has no other choice but to give into Charlie's grasp and falls asleep as well. Or at least, she tries to. What does she mean by she can't. Of course she can.. Is it because of my identity? Kitchen eventually drifts off to sleep.

Charlie wakes up. Jo runs by her. "Charlie? Oh thank god, a familiar face. What's up, kid? I haven't seen you in ages." Jo smiles at Charlie. "Hi? I'm alright, just a bit confused. Is there something wrong?" Charlie replies.

"Oh, yeah I'm just dandy." Jo looks back. "I'm going to go run for a bit, see ya!" Jo runs past Charlie and doesn't look back. Charlie sits down and hears many twigs snapping. Eventually Charlie goes to follow Jo's direction. Charlie reaches a specific tree. It looks strange? The branches appear to be removed. Charlie walks past the tree and look around to notice all the branches in every tree are gone. Did Jo do this? What's wrong with him? Charlie continue to run towards the direction of Jo. She eventually got to a sign, but it was a symbol. She assumed the symbol meant "no people" though. Charlie ignored the sign and went further into the forest.

Charlie looks around, hoping to find Jo somewhere. But to no avail, she found nothing. Well, she found rope. The rope was tied to three trees, as if it was leading to somewhere. She followed the rope and then found a tree. A tree that's not surrounded by anything. No other trees near it. A singular tree in a plain lot. There was rope tied to the branches, shoes and sneakers laid on the ground. You know what has happened. Jo.
