*I know it's been a very long time since the last update. This one isn't too long but I finally got past everything so updates should be more frequent now... ENJOY*
Kayla's POV
Have you ever woken up to the woman or man you're in love with and just stared at them while they slept, asking yourself how on earth i's possible that you got so lucky with them? Well lately that's all I can seem to do, I wake up and just look at Monica, wondering what I could've possibly done to deserve someone such as herself. She made everyday worth living and made each smile bigger than the next. She was and is everything I had dreamt of and more. There was just one problem and it was beginning to eat me alive on the inside, how was I going to tell my best friend that I've been dating her little sister? She was going to freak out and possibly kill me. But on the same hand she might be happy for us. I haven't felt anything like this since Mitchell cheated on me and I haven't seen a consistent smile on Monica's face since before their parents passed. So maybe, just maybe Laura would be okay with this and love the fact that we make each other happy.
After laying and staring at my Sleeping Beauty for a while, I wrapped myself in my fluffy black robe, slid on the matching slippers and made my way down to the kitchen. I didn't have work and practice was cancelled for Monica since they won their game last night, so breakfast was on me today. I was met in the kitchen by my beautiful boy, stuffing his face with pop tarts. I couldn't help but to laugh when he looked to me and tried to smile, cheeks bulging. I was happy to him actually taking in some type of food, up early and not sleeping the day away like he had been since that girl broke his precious heart. I walked over to the pantry to get the stuff for breakfast, ruffling Avery's shaggy hair in the process.
"What're you doing up so early Mom?" He asked after he swallowed his mouthful.
"Even on my days off, momma's body still wakes up bright and early. What're you doing up so early son?"
"I honestly haven't been asleep. The last couple of nights I've been having this recurring nightmare and I think my sleep paralysis is back," he shrugged and began eating another pop tart.
"Avery, how come you didn't say anything honey?" I turned to him worried.
"Because Mom, you've been busy with your work and spending time with Mon. I didn't want to bother you," he avoided eye contact.
"Avery Xavier Dawn, I'm your mother, there's no way you could ever bother me with any problem that you have. I can call Dr. Norris and set up another sleep study to monitor you to see for sure if your sleep paralysis has come back," I cupped his face.
"I'm sorry Mom, I just know how you get when you worry too much and I didn't want to add any stress."
"Baby boy, you could never. I'll call Dr. Norris on Monday and set up something for you," I kissed his forehead.
"Thank you Mom. Sorry for worrying you," he hugged me tightly and walked out of the kitchen.
I looked at him go and sighed. My sweet boy, always trying to look after me when I'm the one that should be looking out for him. Since the divorce though, I had to start working a crazy amount of extra long hours to build back up my career and stack up only so that my boy would never have to worry about anything ever in his life. In doing so though, our relationship has taken a hit. I definitely missed him and wanted to get our relationship back to what it used to be and I knew he and Monica needed that as well. What's the point of having all this money and free time if I didn't use it where it was most important.
I decided to make my loves their favorite for breakfast; French Toast and sunny side up eggs. To get the started off just how it should, right and happy. When I was nearly finished cooking, I heard heavy footsteps descending the stairs. Looking over my shoulder, I caught sight of a very groggy Monica, rubbing her eyes and yawning. Grinning, I turned my focus back to finishing up the food so that my knowingly hungry girlfriend could eat to her hearts content. She came and placed a kiss on my cheek before going to go sit at the bar opposite the kitchen. I looked at her as she sat and laid her head down on the polished marble. She was exhausted I could tell, the game she played last night was incredible. Not only was she the leading scorer of the game, she had at least a double, double in rebounds and steals. The coach would not sit her down and last night I saw why. She was a rockstar out there and my mind was truly blown.
"How did you sleep my love" I asked giving her a cup of coffee.
"Your bed is like sleeping in the clouds. I didn't want to get up at all," she lifted her head to yawn generously.
"I'm glad you like it. I could tell it was a good sleep because you weren't tossing and turning like you usually do," I gave her a small smile.
"yeah, that generally happens after coach tries to kill me in a single night," she sipped on her coffee.
"My love, last night you were amazing in that game. I could see why your coach wanted to keep you in the game."
"That was a good game. Even more so because there was no practice this morning."
"And since you have a free day, I'm taking you and Avery out for the day after breakfast."
"Where to pray tell..."
"Don't worry about it. Just eat up and then come get ready for a day of fun," I kissed her on the nose and walked out the kitchen.
Today is going to be a great day, spending the time with my favorite girl and favorite lady. I couldn't help but to hum a happy tune as I got the shower started. Dropping my robe to the ground and slipping off my slippers, I stepped into the raid of water.
Monica's POV
I woke up to the sun filling Kayla's room and blinding me with the harshest of light. I stretched out and realized my honey wasn't laying next to me like she should've been. I heard murmuring coming from downstairs, so I got up stiff body and all. Walking through the massive upstairs, i took in all the details I never really noticed before. All the pictures of Avery and Kayla laughing and smiling over the years; the pictures of Avery and I at pretty much every stage of our lives. As I was descending the stairs, I noticed a new picture, one that looked like it was just hung up recently. Getting closer, I saw that it was a picture of Kayla and I, a picture we took one day as we were just laughing and goofing off. We looked so innocent and happy. I smiled so big because she loved me enough to have us displayed on her wall.
I got downstairs and the smell of food hit me like a ton of bricks and my stomach came to life. Entering the kitchen, I saw my love at the stove cooking in her fluffy black robe and matching black slippers. A definite switch up from her usual dresses/skinny jeans and red bottom heels. She turned around as I was yawning and rubbing my eyes and smiled at me when I kissed her on the cheeks. I then made my way to the bar to have a seat and rest my head as she finished cooking.
"How'd you sleep my love?" Her voice flowed through my ears like a song as she handed me a cup of coffee.
"Your bed is like sleeping on a cloud. I didn't want to get up at all," I took a sip from my steaming cup.
she commented on my game last night and then said she had a day planned out for all of us. I started jumping for joy on the inside. It's been some time since Avery and I spent time together since Kayla and I told him abut our relationship. I missed him and everything about our friendship. I looked up at her as she got up to walk away after she was going to get ready and smirked. She was just so effortlessly beautiful that I couldn't help but to swoon on the inside just thinking about her.
Leaving me to my thoughts and my breakfast, Kayla disappeared up the stairs. Smiling, I ate my food in peace thinking about what the possibilities of today were going to be. Smiling, I ate my food in peace thinking about what the possibilities of today were going to be. I woke up this morning with a smile on my face, my sister was coming back in town today from a business trip and promised that we would spend the day together. I hadn't seen her in a little over two weeks and I was missing our quality time.
Making my way to the kitchen from my bedroom, I heard Carmen (my new puppy) padding around the top of the staircase. When she saw me coming up, her excitement amplified ten fold. I braced myself for impact as she slammed her small but not tiny body into mine. Laughing like a mad woman, I picked her up and carried her to the kitchen with me and let her outside before going to raid the pantry. Finding the cereal I was looking for, I got out the biggest bowl we had and went to town.
"I swear, you're very lucky we just have money to spend or else you would really need to be the one to replace all the groceries in this house the way you eat," my sisters voice floated across the room.
"Launa! You're home!" I got up and crushed her in a bear hug.
"I missed you too baby sister. Now put me down, I can't breathe," she whispered towards the end.
"Oh shit, sorry. How was Miami?" I went back to my bowl of cereal.
"Beautiful. I want to take you soon. But working for those two weeks was such a bore," she mock yawned.
"I don't see why you didn't just take me in the first place," I rolled my eyes playfully.
"Your coach would've killed me if I took you out of school for two weeks," she made her point.
"Touché, well it's winter break now, so we should definitely go on a trip for Christmas and take Kayla and Avery with us."
"You don't know what I have planned for you yet ma'am," she smiled and walked out the kitchen.
"Oh very smooth Launa!" I yelled after her.
Once I had finished my giant bowl, I made my way to the bathroom to get a shower and get ready for the day. I was more than happy that my sister was home, being alone in this big house was fun and all but it definitely got a tad bit boring. I was also curious to see what she had up her sleeve for this break, knowing her it was something super fun and over the top just because she could plan things like that. I just hoped that she included Avery and Kayla because not getting to see the both of them over the break would be very sad, plus I think it was time to finally talk to Kayla about telling Launa about the two of us because hiding it from her was starting to feel a little like cheating on my own sister, if that makes any sense.
Getting out the shower, I got a text from my sister telling me that I needed to hurry up because we were going to leave soon and that I had company upstairs. Texting her back, I told her I'd be down soon and to send whoever it was down to my room. I resumed my music and strutted out to my room wrapped in a large towel and a small one on head, whoever it was that was here better be comfortable enough to see me getting dressed or else I really didn't know what to tell them. Coming into my room, I came face to face with Kayla perched, cross legged and a smirk plastered on her beautiful face. I instantly froze, she's never seen me in anything less than a bikini top and swim trunks, so this was quite a surprise.
"Are you stalking me now?" I laughed, walking over to my vanity.
"Mmm no, but I am ogling because whoa," she looked at me as if I was a full course meal.
"You know I love you, but I'm really going to need you to stop looking at me like that whilst I have on no clothes," I squirmed slightly in my chair staring at her reflection in the mirror.
"Monica, do you realize what you just said?" Her eyes were big.
I sat and recanted my words, and it hit me, shit I just told this woman that I loved her and didn't mean to. I swallowed hard, didn't say anything and just took the towel off my head so that I could comb through it and get ready for whatever the day had in store for us.
"I'm uh gonna go upstairs and see what your sister is up to honey. Come up when you're done," she looked at me as if she wanted to say more but didn't.
Cursing myself, I continued to ready myself for the day. This would be super interesting.
