Since her talk with the hologram, the blonde has been spending a lot of her time at the castle observing the queen. She told herself that it was just because the hologram asked her to and political curiosity. But deep down she knew it was because she cared as well.

Out of all the things she noticed about the Queen, two things that she paid closest attention was the brunette's kindness and her loneliness.

The Princess first noticed the Queen's pure-ish heart when she helped a clumsy server pick up a tray then something along the lines of "watch your step, Serra."

Yeah, it seems like a common curtesy that anyone would do, but compared to the rumors of an Evil Queen who would smite anyone who even dared to look at her wrong, she was an angel.

She witnessed the beautiful woman's loneliness when she realized that the large dining table was just for show and diplomatic meeting if any other royal dared to visit the kingdom seeing as how no one ever really joined the Queen for meals.

Yeah, it seemed like being feared and being alone went hand in hand in her life. Nobody ever dared to cross her, out of fear of being beheaded, and at the the same time, nobody ever perused her heart or her friendship, out of fear of being burned alive.

The blonde witnessed the puzzling woman's kindness and loneliness firsthand during her 6th month working at the castle.

She was bringing the Queen her warm milk as she prepared for bed. The older royal was sitting at her vanity brushing her long, dark curls and asked the secret (not so secret) princess who was placing  the milk on the stand beside her bed, "do you have someone waiting for you at home that you wish to return to?"

Green eyes widened at the question and hardened as she thought of what she ran away from.

"Well?" The Queen asked annoyed at the delaying response.

"Waiting for me, probably yes. Wish to return, no not really," Emma finally answered looking at the beauty in the mirror.

"Oh, I don't know what that's like," the Queen muttered.

"What not wishing to return to someone?" Emma laughed.

"No, having someone waiting for me," sad brown eyes met sympathetic green eyes in the mirror. Until they then hardened and broke the gaze.

"Excuse me, Swan. But I must turn in to the night. See yourself out of my chambers."

"But-"

"NOW!" She bellowed.

Emma could feel the embarrassment, shame, and confusion rolling off of her in waves, so she bowed to the Queen who no longer acknowledged her presence and exited. Vowing to show the Queen that someone was waiting for her- she was waiting for her.

Ik ik I'm late asf don't kill me. It just 2020 sucks ass or is it just me. Anyway, how's everyone's quarantine? I hope you are all obeying social distancing and washing your hands. Stay safe and healthy.
