ONE;

"bye, hyeongjun-hyung! get home safely!" ahn seongmin cheerily waved at his elder friend, as he sprinted off to catch up to a tall and slim blonde-haired boy. hyeongjun drowsily smiled after the boy, blinking himself awake.

song hyeongjun was a freshmen college student, and was currently barely managing his third-quarter schedule. with nine hours of school, studying and homework, and dance team practices every day, the boy was barely able to get a full eight hours of sleep each night.

hyeongjun and seongmin had just left their after-school dance practice session, and the moon was already rising. letting a sigh fall from his lips, hyeongjun unlocked his phone and checked the time. 8:02pm.

he'd have to take the half hour bus ride back to his dorm room, heat up whatever was left in the fridge for dinner, and start his piles of homework. hopefully, he'd be able to fully be asleep by 11:30ish tonight. clearing his mind from the heavy night ahead of him, hyeongjun plugged in his earphones and made his way over to the bus stop.

it was an especially crowded night on the bus. there were usually around ten people, give or take, seated on the bus each night, but there was always enough space that each passenger would have the availability to his or her own seat. and they would do as such, minding their own buisness in the comfort of only the sounds of the bus' engine, or their own music, provided by their devices. however, tonight was very unusual in the fact that every seat had been occupied, even with duos of friends pairing up to sit next to each other.

hyeongjun had not realized this fact until he had felt a tap on his shoulder, and slowly turned around to face whoever had just disturbed his thirty minutes of relaxation. he had to look up at the tall man that stood before him, and that was about all that he could tell about the man. he was very tall. he wore a black hat that covered his eyes, and as hyeongjun took in the appearance of the man, he noticed that all of his etire was a dark onyx black. how ominious, hyeongjun thought to himself, raising an eye at the man before him.

the man smiled an awkward and apologetic smile, as he gestured around to the rest of the bus.

"everywhere else is taken," the man said curtly. "may i sit here?"

hyeongjun briskly skimmed around the bus, and to his astonishment, the man was, indeed, right. albeit a little stunned, hyeongjun awkwardly nodded up at the man and scooted over towards the window. quickly plugging in his earbuds again, hyeongjun looked out the chilled window, focusing on anything, except the strange man beside him.

it wasn't until the strange man was long gone, and hyeongjun had reached his stop, that he had removed his gaze from the window. the bus slowed to a stop, and hyeongjun shoved his earbuds into his coat pocket, turning to get off the bus. but then, out of the corner of his eye, hyeongjun spotted something. it was a book.

the book had a worn, brown leather cover, and to put lightly, looked absolutely ancient. hyeongjun immediately thought of the strange man who had taken the seat beside him, was he the owner of the aged book? should he leave it here? should he take it with him?

"are you getting off, or not?" the driver asked brutely.

anxiously, hyeongjun shouted a brief reassurance to the driver, grabbed the book, and practically jumped out of the bus.

before hyeongjun could second-guess himself, and ensure the book to the driver's management, the bus coldly drove off, leaving hyeongjun with the fragile brown book.

hyeongjun scanned his eyes over the cover and noticed that, oddly, the book had no title. no name, nor any author. curiously, he opened the book to see that it wasn't some type of journal or diary. there were words, and they were the typed and printed kind, like any other published book would contain. after flipping through the first few blank pages, hyeongjun stumbled across the first written page. the words "chapter one" staring right back at him in big bold letters, as he traced the page thoughtfully.

making up his mind, hyeongjun shut the book, and with a determined mind and aura, hyeongjun tightly carried the book with him as he made his way to the dorm's entrance.

it seems that song hyeongjun wouldn't be getting his full eight hours of sleep tonight, either.
