Thick, curly, black hair twisted in-between a nervous shaking finger. She had just left the stage with 4 yeses. Her mind raced as she stared toward the stage anxious to see what comes next. Her heart pounded against her chest as she thought about what the future might hold. She might be living her childhood dream within reaching distance. A smile crept upon her face as she thought about what the future held.

A week went by and Lauren continued with her daily life, waiting for the call that awaited her with news, telling her to return to the stage.

There was a knock on her bedroom door, calling her attention away from the radio that was blasting Lana Del Ray. Lauren look up from her phone and to her smiling mother.

"XFactor just called. They're ready to see you."

The colored drained from Lauren's face as her heart thumped with excitement. Green eyes sparkled with passion as she thought about her song choice. Confidence was shown clearly through the smile on her face as she touched up her makeup and bolted toward the door.

The car ride to the arena seemed like the most intimidating car ride she had ever been on. With every second she got more and more nervous, her nerves taking over to the point where her soft-spoken voice was gone. She felt the comfort of her mothers hand on her shoulder as she kept the other one on the wheel. She had no idea who she was going up against.
What if her voice is more powerful? What if her song choice is better?
All these questions and relentless worries ran through Lauren's mind like a marathon of insecurities.

The clinking of a metal gate opening, brought her back to reality of what was about to happen. Her heart was beating out of her chest as the thought of being in front of those 4 intimidating judges came back.

The hot sun beamed on them as they walked their way to the arena. Every step getting harder to take than the other.

"Go on in, you're up next." The guard said, motioning toward the doors.

As she walked in she was overwhelmed with the amount of people standing around. Out of all the people in the room she noticed a girl about her age with long straight hair and a beautiful smile standing by the stage. Lauren found herself walking toward her, without hesitation.

"Hey." The girl said to her as she approached. "Are you Lauren?" She questioned.

Lauren didn't answer. She was too mesmerized by this girls eyes. They were a beautiful dark brown, matching her dark hair perfectly. Her bangs fell perfectly against her smiling face. A little white bow sat on her head, matching her skinny jeans and blue and pink floral shirt. She was breathtaking and Lauren couldn't help but think so. She'd never seen a girl so mesmerizing.

"Um, uh yeah that's me." Lauren managed to stutter out.

The mysterious girl stared at her with curious eyes, stating her up and down.

"I'm Camila." Even her name is beautiful.

They tossed a smile back and forth trying to keep it from an awkward silence.

"I was hoping I would meet you." Camila managed to say. "We're going against each other."

Lauren looked down at her feet. So that means the new friend she just made might be going home, or the other way around. Either way they both won't be here at the same time. Her heart fell.

"Oh, I didn't know." Lauren answered, the tone of her voice had changed.

One of the terrifying guards walked up to the pair of girls and acknowledged them that it was their turn on stage. Lauren stomach was in knots again for the third time today.

"Well, good luck." Camila said, flashing her a nervous smile as she started up the stairs.

"You too." Lauren said back as she made her way up the stairs as well.

The idolized judges were sitting exactly where they were when Lauren auditioned.

"Hello girls. Lauren, Camila." Simon's thick British accent carried their names like silk.

They both repeated the hello with a nervous giggle carried after. Lauren's stared down at her shoes, terrifed to look out into the crowd infront of them. This moment determined everything.

Camila was first. Her soft, raspy voice rang throughout the speakers sounding like an angelic melody. She was incredible. Camila's voice floted through the air, sending goosebumps all thorughout Lauren's body. A shiver ran down her spine. Her heart started pounding. Her mind rushed with a million and one questions of how it was possible that somebody so tiny could have such a powerful voice. The melodies flew out like the song was meant for her, like this is exactly what she was supposed to be doing her whole life. Lauren was confident. She knew she was talented, and maybe just talented enough to go through, but, her confidence dropped to her feet as soon as Camila let out the first note.  How is she supposed to beat that?

As she hit the final note she smiled and the crowd cheered. Camila looked over to her with a faint smile, and Lauren returned a nervous one. The words seemed to get stuck in her mouth as she began. The melody of a Bruno Mars song hitting her voice just as well as her audition. Beginning with a soft, sweet tone, getting ready for the big note, the big moment. She had everybody starring at her with interested eyes, hoping to impress with the high note, and there it was. A note hit so perfectly that Demi stood up in her chair and started clapping as Lauren put the mic down. The smile on her face grew wide when she saw Simon returning the same one.

"Now, we're not aloud to give feedback in this round. But I am allowed to say this," Demi gave both girls 2 thumbs up and a huge smile along with it.

"Thank you girls, we'll call you back in tomorrow." Simon smirked and motioned which way they needed to go. Camila and Lauren stepped off the stage and Camila hugged her.

"That was incredible!" She said into Lauren's ear as they hugged. "You are definitely making it through."

She pulled back with a smile on her face. To hear Camila, the girl she just went up against, tell her that she thinks she's going to make it, gave her her confidence back. A smile crept onto her face, not because of the compliment but because Camila hugged her. Her sent of sweet strawberries and lilac flowers lingering in the air.

"Well I'll see you tomorrow then?" She asked her, knowingly.

"You'll see me tomorrow." Lauren repeated.

Camila smiled and started walking away, leaving Lauren to just her thoughts. But all she could think about is Camila. There was one thing Lauren knew for certain though; Strawberries and lilacs was her new favorite scent.
