(Hunted)- The Gifted

The escape

I sat in my room, the news was on, something about there being an attack at the high school. What seemed like a normal day for us quickly turned into something I prayed wouldn't happen. I then heard the door open and Lauren appeared with Andy.
I quickly rushed down the stairs.
I could tell that by the look on their faces that they were the mutants the school was talking about.

"Tell me , I wanna know everything"I said, Andy made himself comfortable on the counter. He started explaining how the kids at school bullied him and how it all started.

"It started happening. I couldn't stop it. I was just so angry."he explained, I rubbed his back.

" Oh, Andy, I I mean, I-I can't believe you di- you didn't feel anything? I just can't believe there wasn't any warning."Caitlin spoke for the first time.

"Mom, accept it Andy is a mutant. That's how mutant abilities first appear it's moments of stress or danger. Dad talks about this - all the time."Lauren then speaks up. I didn't want to say anything yet.

"Lauren, I we-we all know about your father's work. I-I just don't see how that suddenly makes you an expert."Caitlin replied. Unfortunately Lauren had a secret of her own.

"Mom, I know because... How do you think we got out of that gym?"Lauren tells her, Caitlin was practically on the verge of tears.

" What are you saying?"she asked her daughter.

"I got us out."Lauren tells her.

" You, too?"she didn't want to accept that her children were mutants now.

"Remember when we were coming back from that concert at church? And the truck almost hit us? For weeks, you were saying it was a miracle we didn't die. Mom it wasn't a miracle."the thing was that wasn't recently, Lauren had been keeping a secret for a while. Caitlin thought the same thing.

"That was three years ago. Honey, why why didn't you tell me?"

"Don't you think I tried? I even told aunt abi"Lauren tells her. Caitlin then looks at me and I couldn't meet her eyes.

"You can always talk to me. Always. Your-your dad, too. Whatever your issues..."Lauren cuts her off.

"Are you serious? Dad puts people like us in jail." She tells her.

"No, no, no, he prosecutes criminals."she tells Lauren.

"I don't believe that"I finally spoke up, looking up at her and shaking my head.

"He-he he's not against mutants. It's-it's just the ones who hurt people."Caitlin tries to convince them otherwise.

"You mean the ones like me."Andy then spoke up but before anyone could object the doorbell rang. Caitlin goes to get the door.

"Stay here , I'll be back"I told them, rushing upstairs and grabbing my bag along with my jacket.

By the time I rushed back downstairs sentinel services had barged into the house, knocking Caitlin down in the process.

"Get away from my mom!"Andy said, I could see he was getting upset. Mr. Turner glanced at me before putting his attention on andy, chuckling nervously.

" Andrew, Lauren, listen to me. You need to calm down. You're gonna have to come with us. All right? We just have a few questions"that only seemed to make it worse , the house started to shake and of course I knew it was Andy.

"Get out of our house now!"Andy shouted, the house shook again and jaces partner took out his gun.

"Run!"Lauren shouted , I used my powers to slide a table across the room and blocking their way.

"Go! Go! Go! Go!"I yelled, pushing them all towards the back door. We all piled into the car and Caitlin started the engine, the garage door opening slowly. They were coming after us, I pushed Lauren's head down as they shot at the car.

" Andy, what you did before do it!"Lauren tells, I knew Andy wouldn't be able to do it again. He needs to learn how to control.

"I can't! It's not working!"he yelled so Lauren used her shield to block the shots.

"Drive!"she tells Caitlin. She immediately started backing out of the garage.

"I can't see!"once Lauren's shield was down I used my powers once more, knocking the car out of the way. I knew it wouldn't be the last time I saw jace.

"You're a mutant too!"everyone suddenly yelled , all attention on me.
