"I'm going to go upstairs-"
Imogene took a deep breath, hesitant to the ridiculous words she was about to speak to herself.
"Tonight. She can't get that mad at me! It's my seventeenth birthday, for crying out loud! I mean, I've requested from mother many books on the culture and people of the world, and I know what to expect now. I have to do it, I just must."
Her mother had been extremely excited to give Imogene those books, because little did she know that her mother had a different plan for the innocent girl.

"She is almost to the point of release, my lord. May I collect my payment now?"
The lean and feeble king stood up from his ruby encrusted throne and looked down at the woman, his crown nearly toppling off his small head.
"You know our deal. You must deliver her directly to me, or you will never see him again."
"I understand. Good day."

Night fell on the town of Resenberg, and in the basement of her home, Imogene waited patiently until the sound of feet upstairs died away. As the sound dissipated, she began her accent up the creaky wood stairs, and put her hand on the rusted door nob. But before her own hand could twist the knob, someone on the other end began to twist and turn it. Imogene ran in sheer fright as quiet as she could down the creaky stairs and hid under her covers. She could hear steps creeping closer and closer to her bed, stopping her from breathing. The person stopped at the foot of her bed."Imogene, it's alright, it's only me."
Relived to here that the stranger was her mother, Imogene sat up. She hadn't seen her mother in almost a month- she was very reserved and rarely spoke when they met face to face. So it was extremely strange to have a visit so soon; especially in the middle of the night like this.
"Mother, what are you doing? You told me it was nighttime."
"Yes I know- but we must leave, now. There's someone you should meet."
