Cloud opened the doors and there were numerous girls. Most dressed in all white like me. Some wore long sleeves and shorts. Others had tank tops and sweats. But they were entirely colorless. Too much of the transparency made me sick. Yet in the center of the room stood girls who wore color. And lots of it.
Cloud smiled as I internalized it all. He stood behind me, the doors still held wide open. "It's something else isn't it?" "Yeah." He nodded approvingly at my agreement. The room was brightly lit from the towering windows. The place matching that of a fancy ballet studio. The walls were ivory and gold. The crispness was awfully clean and precise.
"It was nice meeting you, Page Biggs. My name as you've heard is Cloud. Cloud Blue. 'My name! How could of I forgotten my name?...wait..'
"My name? Cloud how'd you know—" "You told me of course. On our way in," He grinned as if what he claimed was the only truth. Yet it wasn't. I knew I never told him. Right?' It was kind of sloshing in my mind. The concern slipped away before I could argue.
He walked back and turned to close the door behind him. "Wait, that boy...what'll happen when you catch him?" He stoped smiling and added, "Nothing for you to worry about. He'll be handled. Now enjoy orientation." He closed the french doors firmly.
'What should I make of this place or Boy? Whatever. Don't forget...I can't forget my name again. I'm Page Biggs. That's me. My name is Page.'
After standing by the door for a solid ten minutes. I decided to join in a line behind other waiting girls. The girls in white seemed to be just as confused as me, if not more. They chatted, but their conversations never reached my ears.
I had never seen this many Girls packed into a room before. They talked and filled the silence with girly chatter. There were huge windows that were stained various shades. You could see parts of the campus, but it was more or less blurry. I glanced away from the strange glass, trying to focus on the room I occupied with strangers.
The girl in front of me had two long braids that reached her waist. Her hair was transparently blond...it was almost white. I don't think you could even consider her a real blond. She was tall and wore bright yellow overalls. Her long sleeve shirt was rainbow and her shoes were yellow converse. How colorful...I mused.
As if in cue she turned around. "Howdy there!" She grinned. "Hi." My voice meek. "Names Poppy Yellow. Welcome to Pastell." "Uh...thanks. Say...are you new too?"
She laughed. I wondered what was so funny. "No, my second year actually. First day for you though." I nodded. "How can you tell? Is it the clothes?" I joked. She smiled, "Yeah. The lack of vibrant attire and you haven't been mixed and sorted yet."
Mixed and sorted as if she thought of me as nothing more then Landry. "Uh..." "Don't worry meetings about to start. Mr. Azure, the principal, is coming on in a sec."
"Oh good....Poppy?" "Yup?" "Have you ever met a Dusk Boy?" Her eyes darkened lightly she lowered her head. "We ain't allowed to talk about their kind much but from what I've heard they are awful...though I've never met one myself..why do you ask?" Her southern accent drawing on very syllable.
Should I tell her? Boy's words flashing in my mind. Be careful. Trust no one. "Uh I just heard the guards talking about them. Didn't know who they were exactly." Her complexion softens. "No company you'd ever want I'm sure." I nodded.
Mr. Azure was lanky and too tall of a man. He had to be taller then six nine if not seven one. He had more mushatash on his face then face itself. It curled around and waved a good afternoon to us.
The hair on his head was neatly sorted back with hairspray. He wore a baby blue suit with a beach blue tie. His shoes were satin blue loafers. His name seemed to fit.
