Inside, there was a flurry of laughters, banters, jeu de'sprit, singing and dancing. Andriel's daughter were very wonderful, and I must confess, at some point, I was becoming lustfully endeared to one of them. But I turned myself away from the scene lest I became entrapped.
I remembered how quickly men could sometimes be defiled by beauty, one of the universe's greatest spells that melts the stoniest of hearts and make low the haughty, turning the wildest of predators into preys and savage animals into domestic cattle. The energy was so powerful that I fell into my own web of mental dilemma. The more I turned myself away, the more the energies suck deep into me. Gradually, the voices of reason became entangled in an argument with the voices of my primitive impulses. In a while, they screamed louder, sinking the voice of logic beneath the depth of oblivion and desolation. I could not but listen to their argument as it rang in my head. I became helpless, and it was certain that whichever would rule the polemics would rule me. My wood and steel were useless in their battle for the mind, save the inner strength of virtue and a form of godliness, which could fortify men against all the putrefactions and fetid ostentation of beauty, which has held humanity bound. So I prayed fervently, even while I listened.
Hey boy! Listen to yourself. You sound funny.
Nope I don't.
Yes you do. You don't know Jack about these girls and you are getting infatuated by their beauty. Do you not care to know what hides beneath those enchanting smiles? It could be something nastier than a demon's fart, if not a demon in its fullness!
Please and please! Spare me that gobbledygook! How can you say such a thing about these angelic creatures? Very ridiculous! If they were demons in their fullness, hiding beneath such captivating masks of flesh, they would never have screamed for help when the vampires attacked them. They would have simply defended themselves. Besides, this is just a petty assumption— lacks any quantifiable evidence!
I can't believe you are saying this! What if they turn out bad?
Yes, what if! What if? That's all there is to this argument. What if? Let me ask you this: what if they turn out to be good?
Don't say that. In fact, I think I now have an evidence to disprove your point.
Which is?
The warning signs in the woods...
What's wrong with them?
The words upon the post prove that everything in here is afflicted with some sort of corruption
Says who? Was that included in the writing that everything— I mean, everything in here— is afflicted with some sort of corruption? Or tell me, ever since the captain left, have you seen any evil happen right now?
But you just have to be care...
Keep shut man! You are too envious of anything good and beautiful and you stink with that judgmental attitude of yours?
I am not trying to be!
Judge not that ye be not judged. You have done the good work of saving them, and you have the chance of bringing them into the light. That's why you are here.
Good talk. Now let me ask you this
I am all ears.
It is true we have come to save them and bring them into the light. But should we be careless about it, get carried away and in the long run become like them?
