After the building blows, the police are at the scene within minutes. It's currently 3 AM and Ivan Nikos has been woken up to check out the remains of a warehouse that has been recently destroyed by the docks. Upon arriving at the scene it wasn't hard to figure out who had done this. The warehouse was used to store dust, they did a good job covering their tracks but there was not point since it was obvious who had done it. Just then his partner Detective Miles yelled for him.

Miles: Holy shit, Nikos!

Ivan: What?

Miles: No I wasn't calling for you...

Ivan: What do you mea-??

Ivan fell to his knees, legs completely limp. Looking down at the boy he thought of as his own son, with what looked to be the remnants of the same mask that he had given to him remaining on his face. Ivan cried and cried until another cop came and helped Miles bring Ivan to his black sports bike.

Ivan: It's all my fault...

Miles: This has nothing to do with you, Ivan. I'll call an ambulance and inform his parents of his death, I'm not sure if you can right now.

Ivan: Thanks...

An ambulance came to retrieve the body of Grant Nikos. Word of his death went to the rest of the Nikos family. Everything went crazy, Mrs. Nikos broke down, Mr. Nikos just went to his room silently leaving little Pyrrha alone to mourn her brother. Everyone felt it was their fault in different ways. His mother believed her actions pushed Grant to try and prove himself, his father felt he didn't spend enough time training him or giving him enough attention in general, and obviously Ivan felt the most at fault for it but he never told anyone about the night before. Pyrrha was left to just pick up the pieces alone and figure out why Grant had to leave her alone. The funeral eventually went underway with a crowd of people there. Grant's mother couldn't even go up to the podium to talk she was so broken, so Ivan had to.

Ivan: We should not be here, no one should. This entire event should not exist and yet it does. Pyrrha should be in school, my sister should be at work, I should be at home watching TV and yet we are here. Grant should still be with us. Grant trained everyday to become a huntsman like his dad one day, he was phenomenal, he was a better fighter than some kids at actual academies. His determination at such a young age inspired so many people including myself to work hard and improve. Yet somehow he believed that he still needed to prove himself in a greater capacity by taking down an evil that had been plaguing our beautiful city. He was gone far too soon, however I hope his attitude and determination will live on in his friends and family.

After Ivan's speech Grant was buried in the Nikos Family Cemetery. Quietly people left over time, leaving the grave alone in the night.

BANG... BANG... BANG BANG BANG BANG!!

Grant: Where am I! Ivan!!! Ivan!!!

In his head: Crap limited oxygen, gotta get out of here.

Grant grabbed his belt bucked and began slamming it into the roof of his coffin so hard his finger nails were breaking off. But eventually he broke through the dirt, rising from his grave dazed and confused.

He still had all of his injuries from the beating he got from Torchwick including all of the ones on his head. Walking around nearly brain dead until he finally collapsed on a trail near the coast of Argus. Grant rolled over on his back and looked up confused and in agony, finally passing out before noticing a raven flying over him.
